Canasta Card Game

I went to try and buy a set of canasta in Bath, but the first shop had never heard of it and one of the biggest retail outlets in the country for games didn't sell it. I ordered this set and everything about the purchase was excellent. They arrived very quickly, the quality of the cards are really good and rules are included. Well done!

If you've not played Canasta before, start now. It's an addictive game which has enough twists and turns to keep the interest but isn't as testing as bridge which, being slightly grey-celled challenged, I failed to come to grips with. In theory, you can play it with any two sets of playing cards, but to have the official Canasta cards when you're learning, helps, because the points are written on the cards. Recommended wholeheartedly.

This is good value for money as you get two packs of cards, with the 'canasta' values printed on them. You need this when totally up scores at the end each hand. Plus a brief instruction book on how to play the game. As with all instructions for card games it is easier if you play with someone who knows the game - but the instructions are not too complicated and they give variations on the basic game. There are also 4 scoring sheets - a bit flimsy - but again adequate. So for a complete beginner who wants to play canasta, be it a child from 8 years to grannies and grandpa's this pack will suit all ages. You can play the game with 2, 3, or 4 people - singles or doubles. My friends and I have all bought the game so that we have the cards when we go round to each others houses to play. I haven't rated this higher as it is not strictly a toy - but if you enjoy playing card games this is great as it is interesting, easy to get to grips with and nowhere nearly as difficult as bridge.

I can write this review without even having received my order. It is a fantastic game. Anyone considering buying these cards need to realise that to play you do need at least four packs of cards to keep the game going. I play regularly with friends every week and we all get what can only be described as 'withdrawal symptoms ' when we can't meet! I would strongly recommend learning to play this game. I particularly like the score cards which are included.

We were recently introduced to the game Canasta by friends and immediately enjoyed the game. We decided to buy a set of cards for ourselves so that we could have a game with friends and family. I accessed Amazon to see if they were available within the store and was delighted to see this product and from the reviews it looked like the set for us. We are very happy with this product. The instructions are clear and concise and the cards themselves have the points marked on each individual card which is very reasurring for new players. We have already enjoyed many hours playing the game and can thoroughly recommend this product for both beginners and experienced Canasta players.

Easy to order and delivery was as promised. The presentation box was good and the quality of the cards was excellent. All players were delighted with the feel of the cards. Overall good quality and a pleasure to use. Have ordered another set.

Lovely cards for a great game - clearly marked to help scoring. Clear simple rules if you are a beginner or if you need to clarify a rule. The only problem is that the cards come in blue and red and it's pot luck which colour you get. This does not matter for the original canaster game but if you play a more advanced game called Samaba Canasta you need three decks the same colour. I ordered two sets and received one set of each colour which wasn't helpful. The supplier agreed to take them back but wouldn't supply me with two sets of the same colour so I'll have to try to find the cards locally.

We purchased these cards with the intention of teaching our friends to play Canasta. We learned the game with my parents from one card book and some internet sites, but found that they were never quite clear on the rules and at times we struggled to figure out exactly what the rules should be in certain situations and couldn't find a set of rules that we could decipher in every particular. Well, imagine my joy at finding that the rules accompanying this canasta set are clear, concise and non-contradictory!
