Lessons in Classical Painting: Essential Techniques from Inside the Atelier

I love this book!

This thought provoking and inspirational book contains invaluable methods for painting in oils. I have implemented these into my work and have been delighted with the results. The lessons are by example, the instruction informative whilst keeping discussion to the essentials. There is plenty of illustration images with notes that link into the main text. Recommend.

A beautifully written and well produced book with wonderful paintings reproduced in it. The guidelines are clear, and for me, really took the fear out of trying to produce oil paintings again after years of not painting.

Aristides books are not for those who look for step by step guide how to apply paint on canvas. Its for those who really want to dig deep into the art of creating an artwork. I find them very inspiring and a good reminder of basic principles.

Excellent value for money at this price. As new and delivered within the quoted timescale. Bought For my art course, as we are using the lesson plan as a guide. Full of good information and suggestions with plenty of illustrations. Very pleased with my purchase.

One of the most in depth book about painting and paint handling I've ever read and in companion with Juliette Aristides' DVD Secrets of Classical Painting it's in my opinion the best ever about the subject.

Książka niestety nie wygląda na nową, raczej na powystawową. Świadczą o tym uszkodzenia na grzbiecie okładki. Nie powinna być sprzedawana jako pełnowartościowa.

This book feels beautiful, it looks beautiful, it is excellent quality material, subject matter, advice and imagery. This is the best of Juliette's books in my opinion. In fact it is right up there on the top of books that I love in my art library. I run my own Atelier, both for teaching and working and while I am familiar with all the material and subject matter, it is a book with such a lovely feel and the author has such a great way with words. Honestly, if you can't tell I am gushingly in love with this book, let me say it. I am in love with this book!! You need it if you wish to be a serious artist.

Juliette Aristides is one of the very best writers on the 21st-century rebirth of Realism in painting. This, her fourth book, is the best of them all; it contains clear explanations of what each aspect comprises and gives excellent exercises to be followed by the student.
