Rustins Boiled Linseed Oil 300ml

Bought this to put some life back into the huge slabs of plastic on my Volvo XC70. The bumpers have all faded. Simply wipe this on with a cloth, no technique required or anything. Wait an hour or so, wipe a little more to even it out and here you can wipe off any excess and it gives a lovely dark colour back to your faded plastic bumpers. All in it took 20 mins, not including the hour wait obviously and s few months later it still looks great. I've had to use a tiny tiny fraction of the bottle to do all the trim and there's a lot of it on this car. I'll never use all that oil using it at this rate. Definitely recommend this, big visual improvement for basically no work.

Strangely, the finish after two coats was still matt. I had hoped and expected "Boiled" linseed oil to have a High Gloss finish. It does the job though and seals and protects any wood just as it should.

The small bottle is not as good value for money as the bigger bottles, but I only wanted it for a small project and anything larger would have been a waste product that is not easily disposed of. A small dab on a tissue and I applied it to some bare olive wood. It soaked in and dried out nicely. The wood has had several treatments and is not looking quite nice and has some protection from water. I believe that this is one of those products where repeated and regular application over time gives better protection. The wood darkens slightly with this, but in an attractive way. It doesn't feel like it is sealed as you do with varnish, but it is protected. You are advised to wear gloves with this as prolonged exposure to it can cause irritation. There is also a slightly unpleasant smell to it, but it does fade fairly quickly (depending on ventilation and the surface area covered of course). You also have to be careful as it is flammable until dried out (including the rags used to apply it). Good product and I have no regrets

Made my wood look so good I nearly winked at it. Grabbed this thinking it would just freshen things up a bit… NOPE — this boiled linseed oil basically resurrected my timber like it was starring in some DIY miracle show. Wiped it on and suddenly the grain popped out like it was flexing for Instagram. Everything looked richer, smoother, and way more expensive than it actually is. Even my tools looked jealous. Smells like proper old-school craftsmanship too — like you should be wearing a flat cap and giving wise advice. If your wood looks tired, dry, or depressed, this stuff is basically therapy in a bottle. 🤣

Auch hier nochmal: !!!Achtung!!! Das Zeug fängt Feuer lässt man den getränkten Lappen iwo liegen! Jop is halt Leinen Öl aber eben Boiled. Da bedeutet da sind Zusätze drin welche das Einziehen und verdampfen von evtl. Trägermaterialien beschleunigen. Kurz um das Zeug wird warm und trocknet schneller. Auf ein Papier tuch geträufelt, zusammem geknüllt und in den Ofen getan nach 4 Stunden fing es an zu Kokeln durch blasen konnte ich Glut erzeugen, hätte ich die Ofen Tür aufgehabt hätte es gebrannt 100%. Steht auch drauf. Damit ist nicht zu spaßen, stellt euch vor ihr nehmt nen Lappen reibt euer holz ein uns schmeißt den in den Müll. Wie oft legt man lappen irgendwo ab ? Zeitverzögerte spontane Selbsentzündung, besser kann mein sein Haus aus versehen gar nicht nieder Brennen. Habe es mit einem Papier tuch getestet aber Jeder lappen dürfte iwan feuer fangen wenn man ihn zusammengeknüllt iwo liegen lässt, so wie das jeder macht. Also passt Höllisch auf ! Ganz im Ernst. Gerne upvoten damit mehr Leute das sehen und ich mehr nützlich Stimmen bekomme (warum nicht mal ehrlich sein denk ich mir) Gruß Test und hängt die Lappen zum trockenen auf irgendwo weit weg von euren Häusern etc. Das ist mein voller Ernst das Zeug ist sau Gefährlich. Achso als öl ist das zeug super, sollte man sich aber 10 al überlegen ob man sich das Zeug überhaupt erst ins Haus holt. Sagt euren Kinder/Mitbewohner/Frauen/Männern oder "diversen" ^^ usw. unbedingt dass das zu beachten ist und lappen sich nach Stunden entzünden können.

I should have read the reviews before I put the order. The cap is clearly faulty and and I can't open at all, in the end I needed to pierce a big whole and moved everything to another bottle. I use it to oil my guitar fretboard and the result is showing in my 2nd pic. Also it is a bit confusing that the shop name has an "AU" in it, which I thought was a local store - it was actually a UK based store and the item was shipped from Switzerland.
