Leonard and Sheldon are brilliant physicists, the kind of "beautiful minds" that understand how the universe works. But none of that genius helps them interact with people, especially women. All this begins to change when a free-spirited beauty named Penny moves in next door. Sheldon, Leonard's roommate, is quite content spending his nights playing Klingon Boggle with their socially dysfunctional friends, fellow Caltech scientists Wolowitz and Koothrappali. However, Leonard sees in Penny a whole new universe of possibilities... including love.

Still keeps going -- different, but good
I have read some of the reviews (in particular, the ones that are not too positive) and I have to say: It still makes me laugh out loud... :-) OK, this season has several week episodes: The back-and-forth episodes at the beginning of the second disk are pretty boring. Seems that they did not really have something for a complete episode, so these are just patchworks of small bits and pieces. But the first episodes and the last about eight are really fun to watchOne big point of discussion seems to be: Not enough science. Too much personal life. I do not care too much that the focus of the series has changed. People change. Repetition is boring. My other two beloved series (House, Monk) really got boring when it got to the fifth season. Because nothing changed. Just more of the same. Only different.I am a scientist (somewhere between Sheldon and Bernadette in discipline) and I *love* to see good jokes about the scientific part of their lives. But we had loads of great, great jokes on that front that at least I will never forget ("Geology is not a real science!", and the spherical sheep in vacuum joke, and the dark side of the moon). But people from science should be allowed to have a personal life, to change, to develop. (Sorry for my bad English.) And the focus on the more personal stuff is just cool because otherwise, it would get repetitious. Leslie was great, but only for some time. Kripke is definitely great, but I would not want his rhotacism (just got that from Wikipedia) in every episode -- it is only this funny. So, yeah: If you love the characters, and if you think that "a little different" can still be good, then the fifth season is good for you. Full stop.I am more worried about the sixth season: They are so happy showing Howard floating through the space station, there is hardly anything happening in the first episode. But I hope that what we have seen in the finale will produce, again, something new and pretty crazy. I have always liked Stuart, and it appears we are seeing a hell more of him now! ;-) And finally, Rajesh has found somebody to love... How sweet! I hope for the best.

THE BEST SHOW EVER MADE!!!!!!!!!!
The Big Bang Theory in my opinion is the best series that has ever been released; the cleverness and originality of the show make it unlike anything that has been written before. Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady are the best writers ever!!!! Their constant ways in which they find new things to write about is incredible!!!! Every episode is hilarious and witty, and I don't understand how they can keep coming up with new stories and new things for the characters to experience. All the reviews saying that the show has lost its "bite" or "steam" are completely ridiculous, if they had lost those things then how would more and more people continue to watch the series every week, and give it fantastic reviews!!!! The cast have a brilliant chemistry with each other that makes the show that much more better; on top of that, the addition of Bernadette and Amy has really been a brilliant idea, and they give Chuck and Bill more things to write about, and more incredibly funny stories to tell!!!!!!

absolutely hilarious
I watched a 30 minute episode on television and had to buy seasons 1-4 because it is so funny and then purchased the 5th season. The programme is about 4 geeks who live in California, three of them are have doctorates and are physicists in a university and one is an engineer working on the space station and the rover on Mars in the same university. Also there is a very attractive girl called Penny who lives in the apartment across the corridor and a couple of the characters want to dateOne of the characters is a Indian whose mother and father want him to find a nice indian girl, the problem is he can't speak to women unless he has had a drink. The engineer is a jew who thinks he is gods gift to women(he's not), still lives at home with his mother and fails miserably with all women. Until he meets someone in season 4.Leonard is the most normal of the geeks, but also finds difficulty meeting woman. The fourth has an IQ of a 187 and has OCD and drives everyone to distraction.Give it a go, i don't think you will be disappointed.

A Stellar Season Full of Laughs and Heart
Season 5 of The Big Bang Theory solidifies the show as one of the best sitcoms of its time, delivering sharp humor, evolving relationships, and plenty of geeky goodness. This season takes the gang's adventures to the next level, with memorable storylines like Howard’s preparations for his space mission, Sheldon and Amy’s hilariously unique relationship, and Penny’s evolving feelings for Leonard. The balance between comedy and character development is spot-on, with each character getting their moment to shine. Sheldon’s quirks remain a highlight, but Howard’s growth as he matures in his relationship with Bernadette stands out as one of the season’s most heartwarming arcs.Packed with hilarious one-liners, pop culture references, and clever scenarios, Season 5 continues to entertain while exploring new depths of friendship and love. The DVD set includes great bonus features, such as behind-the-scenes footage and cast interviews, making it a must-have for fans. A fantastic addition to any sitcom lover’s collection!

best series for decades
Some complain about content storylines concentrating on new characters and relationships. Nonsense. The excellent actors are simply given more foils for their banter and more varied situations. Well worth getting the whole series of seasons. The editing on E4, apart from the appalling ads, in inexcusable, taking out huge chunks just to delete such words as Bitch and Damn. With all the utter rubbish produced in the US and shown over here they simply ruin what is a consistently funny and intelligent show. All characters deliver their extremely clever and funny script with and incredible ability to keep their faces straight. Enjoy the outtakes for proof. Jim Parsons is a gem. As a father of an autistic child I can see that his character is autistic, high-end, clearly, and his idiosyncrasies are accurate to a fantastic degree. Wonderful stuff, watchable again and again.

Keeps getting better and better
I really love this show, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on the BluRay season 5.It comes in a single case, with two discs. Ep. 1-13 on one disc with an extra short documentary on the 100th episode and another disc with ep. 14-24 with additional extras such as the gag reel etc. Both picture and sound quality are excellent. I was a bit worried it wouldn't be, as they crammed 13 episodes on one disc, but the quality did not suffer. As for the content of the show, I think the characters are so loveable and it is just so much fun to watch this bunch of nerds. I was a bit sceptical of Amy in season 4, but since she has moved on from being a female Sheldon, she's become a great asset to the cast. The storyline evolves nicely and it was so good to see the Howard Wolowitz character transforming into an astraunaut. As Penny says in one episode - sickly really is the new sexy.

Glory days have gone
I loved TBBT from the start, buying my boxsets from the US because they weren't coming out in the UK fast enough, the world stopped when BBT was on, watching the +1 channel to laugh all over again ..... that was my life through seasons 1 to 3, season 4 was a bit .... hmmm, I'll catch it when it repeats later during the week, Season 5 was tivo'd for later on .... oh, the laughs were there, but not as laugh out loud - more a polite titter. "Shelly" and Lactose Lenny still my favourite odd couple and get the most laughs, but I hate to say it, being a gal myself but the ladies have kinda upset the Nerd chemistry!! I still love TBBT, but was hoping for a few more good seasons before it got that tired feeling!!! Would always recommend the early seasons to everyone though .......
