WEN 6307 Variable Speed Detailing File Sander with 1/2-by-18" Belt

WEN has really surprised me more than almost any other brand in the last 5 years. If you're honest and don't need the high cost of yellow, red, or blue, then orange is for you. I found this tool very easy to use and well thought out. Belt changes are quick and easy by pushing the tip against a solid surface. It then locks back automatically, just enough to slip the belt off. A new one goes on just as easily. When the belt is in place, there is a button inside the vacuum port area (which is removable if you don't need it), and when you press it, the belt tensions automatically. I have used this with 4 different belts and all have tracked perfectly. No further adjustment necessary. Variable speed is separate from on off making that feature very handy. For the price.......Amazing. Longevity I expect to be like my other WEN tools, which is longer than I expected. Runs pretty quietly compared to air operated as well.

This is a nifty, powerful, really well-built tool at a great price. I had tried the angle-grinder with attachment designs before and they didn't work half as well as this more purpose-specific design tool. It is heavy duty but light, easy to use and not annoyingly noisy. The angle adjustment is ready and doesn't feel like it is going to fall apart like the other tools i tried. It comes with an 80 grit belt installed and includes two extras 120 and 320, as well as a dust port adapter. It came properly packaged as well. I just started my project so unless I get surprised by something later I highly recommend it.

Just received it, packed nicely everything there looks good, we'll try to do a follow-up review when I actually use it. Turned it on and it ran well but has a little bit of gear noise. Not to worry I had a Harbor Freight angle grinder we sounded horrible and lasted for years. It is a nice little tool and the belts are available on Amazon for a reasonable price. When you can use it it is a far better efficiency since you turn over the Sandpaper constantly and none of it is left unused. With all the high price batteries out there and the problems with them going dead and paying an arm and a leg I think I can extend a cord out to where I'm going or you say power pack to provide Power. Just a thought for those of you who are using these.

Works well and easily handled for a guy. Not sure if a lady would find it easy to hold with one hand. The belts are easy to change and it is light weight enough to be easy to hold and use.

Purchased the belt sander to gasket match an intake manifold. Has decent power, was able to get the job done much more precisely and quicker than using a die grinder. Been working it fairly hard, it does get a little warm, but it keeps going just fine.

For a cheapy this thing works great! I cannot tell you about the longevity yet but so far I've worn out multiple sanding belts and its working great.

This thing is the bomb. Not expensive and sands really well. I've been using it for some wizard staff projects. I like how the belt has a little give near the base so you can press in and get a nice curve going.

Se siente muy bien hecha y con componentes resistentes, la verdad no tenía demasiadas espectativas pero al usarla las superó, el rodamiento frontal se ve resistente. Por otro lado la heramienta hace un ruido similar a un taladro, bastante tolerable para trabajr en casa y no molestar a mas personas.

It's a fantastic little sander. I'm using it for electrical work - filing off burs, straightening poorly cut strut, removing paint. This is one of those tools where you buy it with 1 use in mind, and you end up using it for everything because it's so useful. You can use this sander with a 200W inverter if you are using batteries. Power draw at the highest speed is about 250W as measured by a wattmeter. My 150W inverter is enough to run the sander at the lowest speed to remove paint but not much else.

Easy to change the belts, just push the end of the assy in till it clicks, change the belt and press the button in the dust port assy to release the spring loaded assy. It runs great, but does get a bit warm when using it for a long time. I used it to remove the inside weld seam on square steel tube to make telescoping fixtures. I would buy again and am glad I bought it.
