Excellent Ceiling Speaker
Very solidly built and well packaged. The magnetic grills blend so seamlessly into the ceiling my wife didn't know I had installed them!. The speaker has respectable bass until the subwoofer kicks in and a very clear midrange. I cannot attest to the highs as at 70 my hearing above 11K is mostly gone. For mounting in a suspended ceiling they are a little heavy so I added a sheet on 1/8" plywood as a reinforcement and have absolutely no sag, The timbre of the speakers match my Infinity Alpha 40s and 20s very well.

Better than Bookshelf Speakers!
I can only compare this to the larger diameter speakers made from polk and klipsch that I demo’d. The polk and klipsch ceiling speakers sounded less than bookshelf speakers, they stood out from my soundstage and just sounded awful! After installing these ELAC ceiling speakers I was surprised and impressed that ceiling speakers could sound this good! How did ELAC do it? The speakers themselves are smaller than polk and klipsch but register at 60hz crossover during my Audessy calibration, the polk and klipsch ceiling speakers registered 120hz during audessy calibration. I don’t know how but ELAC ceiling speakers are better than a majority of great sounding bookshelf speakers and have a highly detailed and neutral sound image that blows my mind. My best guess for the superior sound is how well it is insulated! The polk and Klipsch speakers had zero insulation, these speakers are larger in size and heavier, with smaller size speakers but sound amazing! Plus these have 5 way binding posts! I can’t stop saying how amazing these speakers sound!! Thank you!!

These plus the WiiM amp make the perfect kitchen setup
Installed 2 of these in my kitchen and paired them with a WiiM amp. Highly recommend this combination. Sounded great out of the box but I ran WiiM’s room correction and is great sounding. Kitchens are typically an acoustical nightmare so something with PEQ and room correction make them sound amazing. I also recommend running them in mono. Stereo just makes it weird due to no central listening spot in a kitchen
