T4MO-1 Airflo Hikers Hat

This is a wonderful hat. I might have to buy another one my wife is holding it hostage. This features a large brim, perfect to keep the sun from being an issue. Water runs off the hat like water off a duck and the brim holds its shape. What a joy, no more floppy hat in the pool. The cooling pad is worthwhile.

The Tilley Hiker's hat is now my go-to hat for all outdoor activities. Light, and an extended 3.5 " brim to add extra protection for the face and back of the neck, and 2.5" for the sides. Also, the Hiker's hat has what Tilley refers to as "wind cords"; one for under the chin and an adjustable one for the back of the head to keep it from blowing off; ingenious. NOTE: Sizing is an issue. I normally wear an L 7 5/8 or 61 cm in most hats. However, Tilley's website, based on the tape measurement of the circumference of my head, recommended a size 7 3/4 or 62 cm approximately. Still, the 7 3/4 was a tad snug but not uncomfortable thankfully (talk about a big head!). If I ever have to replace this hat (which Tilley will replace at 50% of the cost if damaged, frayed, etc.), I will order a 7 7/8; their largest size... Although some reviewers in the Question/Answer section of this webpage stated that the front brim did not pop up when the wind blew, mine did. Had to lower my head to keep it from flipping up but only when the wind blew over 20 mph. Otherwise, the front brim stayed put; unlike another sun hat that I wore a couple of days before... Sooo glad I got this particular Tilley hat. While Tilley has several other hats that also have the 3/4" mesh insert around the top of the hat to provide airflow, only the Hiker's hat has the "HyperKew Evaporative" cooling pad that worked like a charm. I soaked the cooling pad in tap water for 5 minutes per instructions and inserted the pad in the mesh compartment sewn in the inside of the crown. When the wind blew through the mesh insert the cooling effect was greatly enhanced by the cooling pad. Unlike the other popular and less expensive sun hat, I did not have to lift the Hiker's hat to cool off my head. Because of the quality construction, 50 SPF, floatabillity, excellent cooling features and Tilley's lifetime replacement guarantee, the extra cost of the Tilley Hiker's was well worth it. Thank you Tilley for making such a superior hiking hat.

I got this T4MO-1 with the venting mesh because I hike, camp and do a lot outdoors stuff in the heat. A friend who is a ship captain recommended this hat to me and showed me how his has a cooling pad inside the top. I also have a classic Tilley T-3 that blocks the sun well and is great at keeping my head dry in the rain, but my head starts to cook in the T-3 in the hottest weather. The T-3 was made in Canada, the T4MO-1 is made in China, but the quality of construction for both hats is the same. The 98% cotton/2% spandex has a nice brushed fabric feel too it, like it does not have that synthetic tech-fabric feel to it. It feels soft, yet strong. The hat came with the Tilley guarantee tag and I was able to register my hat on the Tilley website. The biggest thing I was wondering about before I ordered was if the hat came with a “Hyperkewl Plus” cooling pad - Yes, my hat came with the cooling pad (see my photo). When you soak the pad in water and drain the excess, the pad is cold to the touch. Between the cooling pad and the mesh, my head didn’t get so hot in the blazing July sun. The Tilley style strings can take getting used to, but you can fiddle around with them to find a way that you like - they are different from hats with a quickly adjustable draw string that can be tightened up when wind kicks up.

I bought this for my husband who is sun sensitive. Tilley as always has excellent quality. It fits nicely on his head, and it provides good coverage for his face. It is relatively cool and breathable. Highly recommend

new favorite summer hat , wore it all summer , looks good got complements from several people , mostly middle age men , unfortunately not much for the ladies , but guys wanted to know where they could get one.

Hat seems to be cheaper quality than the old Canadian made tilley hat

The product is excellent. The delivery is TERRIBLE. The associate just left it in the middle of the floor. Not next to the door, not in large mailbox. In the middle of the floor!!

The hat fits and feels.great, soft cotton. Water resistant and came with cooling pad for top of hat pocket.

Ich habe diesen Hut am 04.06.2020 gekauft und bereits am 10.06.2020, per HERMES, erhalten. Da sich der Lieferant, Taunton Leisure, in GB befindet, war der ursprüngliche Liefertermin 15.06. - 19.06.2020 angegeben. Die Farbe des Hutes stimmt mit den Abbildungen zu 100 % überein. Die von mir angegebene Größe des Hutes auch. Ich werde diesen Hut, zum Schutz vor Zecken, im Wald sowie, zum Schutz vor Sonne, am Strand tragen. Er sieht gut aus und wirkt uriger als ein Cap. Somit gibt es eine klare Kaufempfehlung !

Read all the reviews and got what I hoped I wouldn't. Wrong hat entirely and a size 6.5 cms smaller than ordered. These are great hats but ........... Amazon were great with this issue, sorted it out immediately. Grateful. Gave me a lot of confidence in ordering another. Wish me luck.
