I bought this cable to replace the original one that kept causing my external hard drive to disconnect after about 45 minutes to an hour of use. As a DJ, that was incredibly frustrating because unexpected drive ejections can interrupt a performance. This replacement cable has been a huge improvement. I’ve been using this cable with my CalDigit TS4 and multiple hard drives and it’s been flawless. Transfers are insanely fast, charging is rock solid, and the connectors feel snug and secure. The cable itself feels extremely durable and premium, definitely built to last. If you want something that works perfectly with high end devices and won’t fail on you, it’s worth every penny. If it ever broke, I’d grab another without hesitation.

The new macbooks don't come with a lightning bolt port which is used by the lacie standalone storage. The lacie does have a port for a usb-c to lightning connector which allowed me to use my lacie backup using a usb-c connection. This cable worked perfectly and the price was great.

very well made cable, works great for my needs

This cord works perfect with my WD Elements and Passport portable drives. The transfer speed is as fast as it can go for my setup, and best of all, I don’t have to use adapters to fit the cord into a USB-C port. The cord’s coating is flexible, but smooth and sturdy, and the gold-plated connectors plug in effortlessly and securely, providing a stable connection. I got the 3ft length, and it’s perfect for my setup. I’d recommend this cord to anyone who is interested.

Needed to use a micro usb 3.0 external drive case for SATA III with a MacBook Pro. This cable fit the fill and easily met the transfer speed. FYI: SATA III drives top out at 6Gbps, so this cable can handle the bandwidth of any external drive using this interface without a problem.

J’ai acheté ce câble Cable Matters 10G pour remplacer un ancien câble USB classique qui ne me permettait plus de connecter correctement mon disque dur externe à mon MacBook Air 2024. Excellente décision : ce câble est clairement de très bonne qualité. Il est suffisamment long, paraît robuste, et inspire confiance dès la prise en main. J’ai même l’impression que les transferts de données entre mon vieux disque dur et mon ordinateur sont plus rapides qu’avant. Pour moi, c’est une vraie upgrade : simple, efficace et parfaitement adapté aux usages actuels en USB-C. Très satisfait de cet achat — je recommande sans hésiter.

Great cable - say goodbye to the usb c/3.1 adapters. I use it to connect hard disc and solid state drives directly to my 2018 MacBook Pro’s Thunderbolt ports and the data transfer speeds are lightning fast. I don’t know theoretical speed of usb 3.1 via usb c - nor do I really care - but in the real world I transferred about 1/2 TB from one hard drive to another and it took just over an hour whilst I was editing photos in photoshop! Now that’s fast! The cable of course plays a key part in marrying and maximising the two technologies and this one does the job very nicely. It’s a little thinner than most usb cables but there’s no impact on performance; it’s well made and should last an age. Overall a great product which I’d recommend highly. My only complaint is that there’s no option for a short version (10-15 cm) as I would love to have both.
