Just use a capo when you want that tuning, 5th fret.

Would this be a good ukulele for a beginner to learn on? I'm interested in eventually learning slack-key or blues type playing.

I have two answers. 1. Yes. I would 100% recommend this for beginners. It's very playable, and sounds delightful. I can to the uke from playing guitar for many years. And am exceedingly lazy. So not having to learn new tunings and fingerings made the transition almost seem less. 2. If you want to lean to play a proper uke, then I would recommend getting the standard one with standard uke Tuning. The tuning/fingerings are different than this tenor uke. (DGBE)Overall. A great little instrument. Especially for the price.
