What size is the shank? Will they fit a 1/4inch drill?

The shaft of the diamond bit is just a bit bigger than a 1/4 like 5/16 if that’s what you are asking. Must use a drill that is adjustable to accept the round shaft.

Will it work on an alluminum 1/8" sheet?

Hello, Diamond hole saw will not work on alluminum. Maybe carbide burr set will work on alluminum.

Can these work on wood? I have an old rusted screw that snapped off inside a chair leg.

Not likely. These bits are like a hole saw - an empty shell that cuts on the outside diameter only. Get a screw extractor bit for that size screw, chuck it in power drill, set drill to reverse and let it go into the screw and remove it automatically.

Can I use to drill hole ~ an inch or two wide on mirrored glass?

No, it not going to work. Must be a drill designed for glass.
