I am impressed
I used this on a 10 day scout trip where about 6 days were spent in the back country. Both I and my son used this whenever we needed to dig holes. He has a wider aluminum one and preferred mine. The smaller size makes it easier to dig down. It works best to loosen dirt and then use your other hand to scoop the dirt out of the hole. The teeth chew through roots pretty easily. I brought paracord to wrap the handle if it felt uncomfortable but never found that to be necessary. It does cradle small rolls of paracord (50-75ft) so it makes packing easy (and doing so ensures the teeth dont rest up against other items in your pack). It is very light and I was afraid it would bend but I see no signs of damage even after hitting and removing a few small rocks.

Does what it should do with ease!
6ft - 175lb - Male I have had to use this a 6-7 times now and it has done great for me. This was my first trowel I've used so I do not have anything to compare it to. The serrated edges are very nice and made it easy to cut into dirt with small roots. The length works great for me and I did not think the handle end was to sharp as others stated(I could see it hurting if someone was digging frantically). It is definitely lightweight and seems durable enough to last my years to come. CONS: I do wish it came with some kind of protective carrying bag. Mine only came in a small paper bag that works for a few uses but will end up getting torn up and thrown away.

Light weight, works well on root, and does exactly what you need it to do...
I bought this and the TheTentLab New Improved Deuce(R) Ultralight Backpacking Potty Trowel. I decided to keep this one. I live in the northwest and there are roots and the soil can be dense. This trowel handled sawing through the 1/2 inch tree roots and various bush roots. It is narrower, so in theory slower, but the other trowel cant pry some of the soil the same way or handle the roots, so you have to try another location ... so in this area, it is faster. The folded Titanium lips provide a little comfort that others do not. This also helps get some leverage without needing gloves. It is a keeper! A little more feedback: Still very much a keeper, and I will add that the teeth are not sharp, so I have never had any wear on my gear due to them, but they do still cut through roots, just not like a hand saw ... My feedback is that it might be a little more comfortable to heavily round the edges where the rope/cord will pass for the tent ankor feature. This goes for the inner groove that the rope would touch, as well as the outer edges where your hands will contact as you dig.

Incredibly light
Aside from cosmetic imperfections and a dent, I can't wait to test it out. I'm really only concerned about the vendor's willingness to send a dinged up product than I am the condition of the product itself, since I'm going to beat it up anyway. I was at REI to get some other things, and the ones in stock there look like theyre in tip top condition. Other than that, I love the rounded grip, and how it sits comfortably in my hands. The teeth on the sides aren't sharp, so I won't have to worry about them cutting up anything in my bag, but I'm eager to see how well it cuts through roots. I'll update again after I've my trip UPDATE Very durable, and digs easily. Still takes some work to cut through roots, but gets the job done and I'm happy with it. Have yet to use it as a spare stake

Amazing Piece of Equipment though Bit Tough to Hold
This is one of those items you don't exactly find in any retail store. The edges and lack of handle make it hard to wield for digging long periods of time but WOW is it hard metal. Great for geological excursions, hiking, etc. The hardness in the metal is such that it can be used to engrave on other metals and forget about damaging this thing on rocks. I used it as a digger on hikes and wow, incredibly light, incredibly strong and super compact for small day pack stowage.

Happy pappy
Unfortunately my son lost my "preferred" dig tool ... so I replaced with this. Positives all around. Serrated edges cut through small roots, its light and the curve at the top of the handle makes this a step above the usual flat titanium or aluminum tool that cuts into your hand (you might have to wrap para cord around some other tools to not cut your hand. The only down side is it really should be kept on the outside of your pack. I do as a matter of course - who wants a poop digger inside your bag till you wash it? Anyway a few times I got tired of the noise and moved a clean tool into my bag then was surprised when I forgot and reached in for something else. Its not "super sharp" but it could cut or is at least a surprise.

Lighter than the box it came in but very strong & sturdy
I bought this to replace an old plastic MSR trowel (which I also recommend) that has worked great, but has a small crack and weighs 82 grams (2.89 oz). This titanium one weighs 33.4 grams (1.17 oz) on my scale (a little lighter than what Vargo & other reviews have noted). Not a huge weight savings from my old trowel but still worth the money in my opinion. It's much sturdier than I thought it would be and the serrated edges will have no problem cutting through roots. I also plan on using it to replace a tent stake, so that will save me another 12 grams. I usually keep my trowel in an outside pocket on my pack and am a little concerned about the serrations causing damage. To avoid this, I'm going to keep it in the plastic sleeve it came in or strategically place it in my pack. A great addition to my backpacking setup. Thanks Vargo & Amazon!

Works well, but watch out for the handle!
A very light-weight trowel, but a bit on the flimsy side. Nevertheless it works well, although the sharp end corners of the handle trashed my hands before taking a file to it when back at home-base =)

Great.
It's about 3 grams heavier than the stated 35g/1.25oz, but it is very light and much stronger and sturdier than lighter aluminum cathole trowels.

easy to clean and very tough
LIght, easy to clean and very tough. Hasd serrated edge on both bottom edges. In a pinch could be used as tent peg, as has spigots at top end to restrain a guy line. Delivered fast, good price and very light.
