Great bag and a good size for EDC
Great bag and a good size for EDC, though it's kind of on the large size, and tempting to really overfill. The D-rings on the top are great to clip a water bottle on, and to keep it from flopping about, I ran a piece of 1/8" shock-cord through the webbing lower down on the side and slip the water bottle into it - secured both top and bottom it stays out of the way but easy to access - no need for a bulky separate water-bottle pouch, unless you need something insulated. Front Admin Pockets/Panel: Well sized - I've got my larger and smaller items separated accordingly - the top pocket easily holds a small pill holder, full-sized BIC lighter, small multi-tool (Leatherman Micra), 6 ft. tape measure and a couple of hanks - 6ft of shock-cord and 6 ft of paracord, with lots of room to spare. Will also fit a full 7-day pill organizer. The lower pocket holds larger items nicely: Leatherman Wave, 2 flashlights (S-Mini 18650 and Mag 2xAA LED), pocket knife (Spiderco Endura), small pry-bar, generic plastic magnifying glass, spare 18650 batteries for the S-Mini, lotion, and a microfiber cloth in the slip pocket. There's also a key hook that I use for a USB thumb drive - very handy to have with you. I also attached my hard-shell sunglasses case to the velcro field with $0.75 worth of industrial-grade adhesive velcro from a fabric store. I secure it fully with the shock-cord - glasses are going nowhere. Main Compartment: ROOMY! The two slip pockets are nice, and I frequently carry my 7" tablet in one of them, with room to spare. The flap with the zippered pocket is also very handy - I keep phone and tablet chargers in there, along with their cables, and there's tons of room left over - it keeps occasionally used items organized and out of the way. The zipper pull also doubles, in my case, as a place to hang a Streamlight Nano. The rest of the main compartment is great for larger things - a pair of mechanic's gloves, larger hank of paracord, spare AA battery holder, 8x21 binoculars etc. Improvements I'd like to see: 1) The rear "CCW" pocket is great, but the strap won't tuck into it as comfortably as Maxpedition says. It will go in there, but makes the overall package pretty bulky. 2) The auxiliary strap - it would be an improvement if they attached it to the bag with a swivel hook instead of wrapping around the D-ring. As it stands, it's cumbersome to use, so I keep it off. 3) Interior - some d-rings, key clips, and para-loops (like on the pocket organizer series) to hang frequently-used items would be handy. Elastic retention might be nice too, but as necessary. 4) Hydration reservoir/bladder - This isn't on Maxpedition, necessarily, but it would be a great option to have. The CCW pouch could fit a 1L bladder easily, but the only one I could find, so far, with the right dimensions is the Kangaroo 1L with pouch, which is way too expensive for this application. The bottom line is that this is a fantastic bag, and though there's always room for improvement, I'm well satisfied with my purchase and happy to use this every day. It's easy to over-stuff and find yourself carrying to much, so watch out for that.

9 years old - still going.
I've had this for 9 years now and it's still in perfect condition. Use it on and off. Get something new, try that for a while - keep going back to this. You understand why it's expensive as soon as you get it. The material is nearly indestructible. Very well made, very heavy duty. There are pockets literally everywhere. I still don't know if I've found them all. It's just a great bag and a good size tjat doesn't take up too much space. I added a bottle holder onto the side and made use of the molle webbing on the opposite side to carry a small flashlight and larger tactical pen (they are nearly the same size) for quick access. Inside has another case with every charger and cord I might ever need, anker backup battery, my meds, aspirin ECT. Smaller pockets have travel flatware, collapsible straw, a knife, some pepper spray ECT.. House and car keys live in the smallest pocket up top, and my wallet and cash stay in the zippered pouch inside the main compartment. Still has spare room, and the pack sleeve can fit an 8" tablet or compact handgun. This bag really is built to last. Don't think for a minute those $30 knockoffs are just as good - cause I promise they won't be. You could fit 3 insulated water bottles inside the main compartment if you wanted to, cause I did that for a while also.

Maxpedition Lunada as an EDC
I bought this bag predominately as an EDC to help carry my firearm. I use to carry a waist pouch and realized I needed something a bit bigger to accommodate a few other essential items. It was important to me to have some sort of compartmentalization so that items can be found when needed. I was torn between the Remora and Lunada by Maxpedition. After giving it some thought I realized that I needed adequate space to carry a subcompact 45 caliber (Glock, model 30). Most reviews I saw on YouTube did not show many or even mention what type of pistol would fit appropriately in the bag. I figured I could not go wrong with the bit larger size in the Lunada. I thought the bag to be more of a square shape versus a rectangle according to the pictures online. However, this is not the case and is shaped more like a loaf of sliced bread (wider of course). It is a good looking and feeling bag. Durability, quality and performance do not appear to an issue. I trust the bag should hold up for a long time. In fact, I'll probably grow bored with it and look for a new color before I wear it out. I would like to share that I found the main compartment (largest one) is where I chose to carry my pistol. The other option exists in the rear of the pouch that makes contact with one's body (I didn't like how that felt). Because I use the inner, larger compartment, I am limited in what I could store there. If you carry too much in that area, you will interfere with the accessibility of withdrawing your gun if needed. I used a smaller zipper pouch to consolidate a few items to keep things from spilling, uncapping, or tearing while in the pouch. I also, use the Maxpedition Universal CCW holster which attaches to the Velcro lining in the respective concealed carry pockets to better secure my gun. As a male, I don't need a whole lot of items but like that I am now able to carry a bit more than I was able to in the past. Items I use the bag for are: cell phone, wallet, mp3, ChapStick, hand sanitizer, Ibuprofen, LED flashlight, multi-tool, folding knife, small journal, pen, Sharpie marker, hand lotion, Wet Naps. I still have more than half the space still available. Do not question this purchase. If you need a bag that doesn't exceed the previously mentioned items by much more, then this will do fine. You're only concern should be what color will you buy?

Great little pack
I ordered this and the Malaga because I wasn't sure if the Lunada would be large enough for my needs, and Maxpedition's gear can sometimes appear larger than it really is on their website. The Lunada actually holds much more gear than I imagined, so I will likely set aside the Malaga for when I have to travel and lug more gear. Overall the bag is very well setup and has the typical Max attention to detail and features, allowing for a high degree of flexibility and convenience for gear storage. I'm typically carrying an iPad and/or a 10" Droid tablet, both in fairly hefty cases (folding folio-style leather cases), plus odds and ends related to computer repair. Both tablets fit perfectly in both the main compartment of the bag, and also in the exterior CCW pocket which rides closest to my back when carrying. The latter has the advantage of allowing me to secure the tablet with the snap strap, making it very handy to get to without opening up the bag. This would obviously not be an option if you have something beefier like an Otterbox or similar case. I find the Lunada to be slightly more comfortable than the Malaga with the same load-out, but both are excellent bags. I highly recommend the Lunada for lightweight commuting/EDC-type applications, especially when you strap on a Max mini-dump pouch for when you need to carry a water bottle. These are perfect because they roll up into a very small package when not in use, but will accomodate a 32 Oz Nalgene when unrolled.

Great, Rugged, Overpriced
I have really shopped for a decent sling bag -- it must be as compact as possible, safely carry a small to medium auto pistol, securely carry an iPad w/rugged cover. Who carries a naked iPad around? NOBODY seems to make such a bag. Many are close, but no real winner. Maxpedition has created a line of rugged bags that seem very well designed. However, on the Lunada, it will not hold an iPad with a cover inside of the table sleeve. Yes, the iPad can be dropped into the main pocket and I really thought about that. But for $90 I want it to fit. There is a bundle of cheap knockoffs that stole the Lunada's design. But, check those closely. Many have good reviews but don't really have any weapon retention. They just provide various pockets, you have to figure out how to keep the gun from sliding around -- no Velcro lining. As a review of this bag, I am disappointed that the bag is so expensive and I still have to buy their universal holster and any administrative pockets. So, your Lunada will likely be well over $100. I might have kept this one if it had been 1/2" (13mm) wider in the iPad pocket. But, it went back. Keep on shopping.

Quickly rising to the top
Upon ordering the Lunada, I immediately had second thoughts on whether or not I should have picked up the Noatak, or a Hazard 4 pack. I currently own a number of backpacks and messenger bags. I've gone through quite a bit, as I like to carry stuff on me, but I don't like pocket stuffing. Comfort and maneuverability is a major priority to me, so I test bags pretty often. The Lunada ended up being smaller than I expected, which was good, as it fit the key requirement of being able to hold my tablet- a Barnes & Noble Nook HD+. It fits snugly into the hydration pouch. There's an additional hidden pouch that can be used to hide a compact pistol, money or identification hidden under the small zippered pouch (with velcro for added security). The space inside the main compartment isn't overly generous, however it can easily fit a bottle of water and some snacks, possibly a light jacket etc etc. Perfect for any minimalist. Anyone who needs to haul lots of gear may want to check out the larger packs. The top rear compartment fits a flashlight, my Freedompop Bolt and a small bottle of hand sanitizer. There're organizational pouches however I'm not using them. The lower one has lots of webbing, and I use them to hold my pens. There's a sleeve that perfectly fits my Kobo Mini e-reader, and I have space for a notebook, Clif Bar, and more. I will also slip my wallet (Saddleback minimalist) and phone (now LG L9) without any excess bulge. For a nice touch there's a zippered compartment in the very back which I use to slide receipts, notes and also keep a microfiber cloth for cleaning my gadgets if necessary. The quick-release clip buckle on the band is useful if you're encumbered and can't be bothered to lift the bag strap over your head. It's large and strong. There's a mini clip that lets you secure the bag to you if you need to run, however I don't need the strap as the webbing is slightly rubbery, keeping the bag from sliding too much. The strap I put into the hidden external sleeve, for the just-in-case factor. These bags can be had for ~100 new, however I was lucky enough to get mine used like new at $65. Keep your eyes out for a good deal, I was very fortunate for mine, and am extremely happy I've finally found a Maxpedition that fits me well. EDIT (2/10/2014): A quick update. I still use this bag daily. It's my favorite pack, and I've refined my carry. The main compartment holds my Nexus 7 in the small back-sleeve, the actual main compartment is empty for daily carry, in case I want to add a water bottle, gloves, snacks etc. The little zipper flap holds some kleenex, my Freedompop Overdrive Pro and a signal mirror. The top organizational pouch holds my house keys, a small Altoids tin, some basic medical items, and hand sanitizer. The larger bottom organization pouch holds the most, a CRKT M16 Knife, Bodyguard 380, NiteCore SRT7, a food bar, a random pen, spare battery for the Nitecore, spare magazine for my 380, and an external battery charger for my phone. All this fits in without any added bulk. I recently broke my right arm and was able to switch the strap to go across my chest the opposing way, so I could easily put on/take off the pack while my arm was in a sling. This proved to be extremely useful. I might add that the pack survived a car crash, also protecting the contents within (slamming the bag against the dashboard at a combined 80mph impact (40mph from both cars). This same impact shattered an otterbox cargo box in my car's trunk.

Great little EDC
Due to a shoulder injury I had to stop using a regular backpack. This, though a little small works for me, holds more then enough for a day hike and is comfortable to wear, (not as comfortable as a backpack). I've owned several Maxpidition packs and they hold up fine. I'll do a updated revue if it warrants it. The molle attachment points work great.

Perfect Everyday Carry Bag!
I’ve been using the Maxpedition Lunada Gearslinger for a few days now, and it has quickly become my go-to everyday carry bag. The build quality is outstanding—rugged, well-stitched, and clearly built to last. The compartments are thoughtfully designed with just the right amount of organization for my gear, and the MOLLE webbing gives me endless customization options. The single-sling design is super comfortable and convenient for quick access, especially when on the move. It’s the perfect size—not too bulky but still spacious enough for everything I need daily, including my tablet, multitool, first-aid kit, and more. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a durable, functional, and stylish EDC bag. Worth every penny!

Highest quality product
Bought this in 2017 for work/edc. I work in construction so I thought I should have something that is durable and can take some abuse. Well, this bag is a beast. I gave it a thorough inspection the other day after realizing I've been using it every day for over 4 years and it's in perfect condition. No scratches or tears and every stitch is in place! I have not taken it easy on this bag and twice I have washed it with soap and water (which I heard is not a good idea) and it's just like new. I would buy it again if it ever fails me, but I'm certain that day will never come.

Superb bag
Early days yet, had it just over a week, but if the obvious excellent build quality holds up as it looks like it will I'm going to have this bag a good while. Onto the bag itself, it looks quite small on the outside but packed sensibly it holds so much; small first aid kit, small survival kit, torch, multi-tool, torch, and numerousother bits of EDC kit plus Kindle Fire tablet, Fuji X100 camera, spare batteries and several filters and still room for my sarnies. And that's before I start itch the ability to attach pockets, pouches or kit to the molle webbing on the bag and the shoulder strap. All in all, this seems to be the ultimate EDC and travel bag
