Excellent quality lcd
Worked great with the arduino liquid crystal library. Build quality is excellent, very thick and bright.

Works Well
Same library and commands as the smaller 16X2 that comes with the Arduino starter kit.

no problems with the LCD
The header pins that comes with this are really short. they are the same length on both sides. normally, when i put a header in something like this, the pins stick up a little bit out the top. i had to push the pins down through the plastic holder so they now sit flush with the top of the LCD board. the LCD itself works like it should. backlight adjustable. easy to setup with the LiquidCrystal library.

Great product. Clear pin hook ups and the same as my 2 line LCD so swap was super easy.

junk
LCD Panel appears to work okay, but the LCD controller made by no-name semi-fab is an utter junk. The specification document, RK-10290_410, is incomplete and is not all compatible with industry standard, HD44780. As an example, LCD is an extremely slow device that requires programmer to check for busy flag (BF) bit before sending command/data. On this hardware, LCD is busy all the time, and without checking/clearing this bit, it send garbage characters. Built-in CGROM is a complete garbage. If I send to display numerical “1” LCD displays “q.” It has an issue interpreting upper 4 bits in CGROM, therefore all character using ‘0010xxxx’ in upper 4-bit region becomes ‘0111xxxx’ This is not an isolated issue; I returned first unit and testing on second one. I’m not at all surprised of Amazon rating. I should have spend little more and get a functional unit from DigKey.

The I2C version is better. That one only uses 4 wires
The I2C version is better. That one only uses 4 wires, this takes up 12 I/O pins. It is a good buy though if you have enough I/Os and want to save some money.
