Great little backpacking hatchet/throwing hatchet.
* Worried the handle will break? Mine didn't and I put it through the wringer on a backpacking trip. Cut down dead and living 8" inch in diameter trees and made it earn its keep with the fire wood. * Afraid its too heavy? Its not. its actually surprisingly light in the hand. * Worried about the craftmanship of the handle, yeah do that. I mean its fine, but the oval of the handle is like, cut wrong at the edges. I don't really notice at all unless I look for it. But, who cares that's going to break over time and be replaced anyway. *Worried about the craftmanship of the head? Meh, its fine. Its uniform in shape but its like a B-. But, for the price this thing is a home run. the steel sharpens well enough too. You wont be shaving with it, but its plenty sharp for outdoorsy stuff. *Worried about the taper of the heads edge? You have the wrong product here. Its tapper is middle of the road. Its not supposed to be a throwing axe, or a cut down the redwood forest, either. Its about 20 degree angle. Worried that it might not be made in the usa? Its not. The handle is, so there's something. Got mine for $35 and I think its worth $50 but, if you're going higher you're in made in usa territory (this isnt) so just buy American and have better quality in Axe head so you can have just one hiking axe for ever since the steel will be higher quality, toughness, keep its edge longer, wear away less quickly while sharpening. all that.

Craftsmanship and Quality!!!
Ok, I have been an avid buyer of Cold Steels hawks for a while now and I wasn't going to buy another, (collection is amassing u know!) but the Metal Gods spoke to me and I bought the Nobo! Upon opening the packaging I was greeted with an emerald green CRKT box that was very neatly and nicely packaged on the inside. Everything was where it should be with nothing sticking out of the box like sharp edges. First, I took out the pole which I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of and lacquer although there is a lot of it! The choice grain hickory that they use for their poles is superb and 200 times better than anything Cold Steel produces. Secondly I took the hefty steel axe head out of its plastic packaging, inspected it and there was absolutely nothing wrong aside from having to make it razor sharp myself. I can't speak enough of the quality of this hawk! The pole fits very snug and fits very nice out of the box, but it will need a little sanding to make it sit flush and true. There is a Lot of laquer on the handle though but it's better than wax!! I absolutely love it and encourage You to buy one if you're on the fence like I was. You'll never look back. End note; I purchased the leather Nobo sheath for it and it fits like a glove.!

Good looking tomahawk
I got this CRKT tomahawk because I wanted another throwing hawk and I couldn't find another cold steel trail hawk. This is made of good steel and seems to hold a good edge once you get one. The handle is larger in diameter than the cold steel ones so I've had to order extras through CRKT. The head is heavier on this that the CS one. The blade is thicker so it doesn't stick as well in the end of a log. If I had gotten this for a camp axe the thicker blade would be ok. But if I wanted a camp axe, I'd have ordered one with a poll so I could use it for tent stakes. This seems like it's a good tomahawk, I've just been spoiled already. The handle was varnished when I got mine so I had to sand it off before use. It does have a pretty handle. Two advantages of the CRKT over the Cold Steel. No little set screw to throw away and little hole in the head. This one also didn't come in that black paint I have to scrape off my Cold Steel hawks. I prefer the bevel of the Cold Steel, but this is a good hawk too.

Impressive!
I own several tomahawks, but this is my favorite by far. The design, fit and finish are top notch. This hawk is heavier than most so is an effective chopper. The balance is excellent. I like that the beard is partially sharpened, letting the owner choose to finish the edge or leave it as is. I also like the dark finish on the handle. Overall, this is a better hawk than the Cold Steel models, and is a great first hawk or worthy addition to your collection.

Wowzers!
Neat-o this implement is cool af, been carrying it around with me all day, smacking logs and such. I really like the feel and the weight seems spot on. It came sharper than I expected. I'll take it into the forest tomorrow with the boys and give it a good trial. The handle is beautiful but I'm not afraid to harm it because like others have said it can be easily replaced. No doubt I'll try to throw the thing haha. I think it's a sturdy piece of work and if everything goes well I will not bother updating this review.

Made by Dwarves, or Germans
Not sure how they managed to do it, but this type of precision is obtainable by only two people - Dwarven Craftsman, or German Craftsman. The handle is laminated and very nicely stained, giving it a darker look, more durability and reduces hand shock on hard strikes. It's throwable and sticks heavily. The blade is dull but still edged. So far, one of the better hawks I've tried. If every hawk head fit their handle like this one does, we might actually be able to prove dwarves exist.

Not as marketed
I’m going to begin with ,it’s a particular nitche. I’m happy with, have used an abused as not recommended. Also I negated selling point of easy removal or head and wrapped with paracord. My personal decision, but wrapped so I have hand cordiage and don’t plan on packing out where I would consider that as a priority. I have recommended it to family and friends.

Bulls eye product
Holy Molly, this thing is an amazing product. I found the handle too slippery, so I told a file and roughed it up a lot, so that it releases when I say. Otherwise, I am really impressed with the CKRT quality, and the seller , perfect condition, and sharp, I can shave with this. I use it for Axe throwing league, and put some tape on the head, so it fits snug, and no slipping. consistant, and reliable, I would probably order another handle, just in case I damage this one and want to continue my league, 5 Star product, 5 Star seller.

Great camp axe
This is a handy little axe - good weight and balance. The handle shaft fits well in my hand and the slight taper at the bottom facilitates throwing. After a couple of test tosses I stopped throwing however, as it felt disrespectful toward such a good tool; it suits me perfectly as a camping hatchet; light and effective for a number of tasks. Follow up - not good for splitting.

Good quality
For the price, it could have come sharpened, so for that it gets 4 stars. I sharpened it and gave a few throws, balance is pretty good, handle is of good quality. Good buy overall

Solid
I've had this hawk about a year now I guess, been through it all. I keep the edge sharp but a rather wide degree to keep it strong, I have lots of dead ash around me. Very sturdy, solid head. My favorite hawk by far.
