Solid Protein with Great Taste – A No-Nonsense Supplement That Gets the Job Done
I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years, and Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate (Chocolate, 5LBS) strikes a great balance between quality, simplicity, and affordability. If you’re looking for a protein that doesn’t come with a laundry list of artificial ingredients or an inflated price tag, this is it. The chocolate flavor is smooth and mild—not overly sweet—which I really appreciate. It mixes well with water, milk, or into smoothies without clumping or creating that gritty texture some cheap powders have. It also digests clean for me—no bloating or heavy feeling after drinking it. This is a whey concentrate, so it’s not as isolated or filtered as whey isolate, but it still gives you plenty of protein per scoop with a solid amino acid profile. For most people—especially if you’re using it post-workout or as a supplement to daily nutrition—it’s more than enough. Pros: Great Value: 5 pounds for the price is hard to beat. High protein content without breaking the bank. Simple Formula: No fillers, dyes, or overhyped "proprietary blends." Just quality whey. Good Taste: The chocolate is pleasant and mixes easily with no aftertaste or chemical flavor. Digestive Friendly: No issues with digestion—no bloating or upset stomach. Transparent Labeling: What you see is what you get. Nutricost is usually reliable with their sourcing and testing. Cons: Not a Whey Isolate: If you're lactose-sensitive, this might not be ideal—it’s a concentrate, so it contains small amounts of lactose. Scoop Size Varies Slightly: Occasionally the scoop seems a little inconsistent between batches. Minor, but worth noting. Basic Packaging: Don’t expect fancy labels or flashy branding—it’s minimal, but the product inside is solid. Bottom Line: Nutricost’s 5LB Whey Protein Concentrate is a dependable, budget-friendly protein powder that performs well in every way that matters. It tastes good, mixes well, and supports your nutrition without unnecessary ingredients. Whether you're lifting heavy, building muscle, or just need an extra protein boost during the day, this one delivers exactly what you need.

Excellent quality for the money makes this a great value!
Great value for protein! I work out almost every day, with a bias toward resistance training. As a 62 year old man, I need to work hard to maintain my muscle mass and tone, and Nutricost protein is an important part of that effort. I like that it is made in a NSF certified, FDA registered facility, so I trust that the protein is safe, and based on my results (recovery, muscle mass and growth) the quality is there as well. I like the chocolate taste a lot in my shakes, and it dissolve easily, unlike some others I have tried that end up in unpleasant clumps. Products like this are a key part of my longevity strategy. I believe that if I can do it today, then I should be able to do it tomorrow, and this protein gives me the strength to keep pushing

Wow, goodbye pure protein, and premier protein
I was in search for a new protien powder because the cheaper ones I used pure protein, and primer protien ALWAYS had this weird after taste in my mouth. Like a slight chemical, fake flavoring, funky taste. And those protein powders never broke apart well dispite using the little blender ball. But I just received this. It taste just like hot chocolate mix. I'm not kidding. It literally taste like hot coco. Me and my 2 kids were blown away by the taste. There is no artificial flavor or chemical after taste none. We mixed ours with milk and it blended up beautifully. Honestly I don't have that awful coating feeling in my mouth either. That strange thick feeling with super bad breathe. If you looking for cheaper protein that's not 70 bucks but is also good and actually tastes like chocolate this is your sign! I plan on trying the double chocolate next!!

Good choice and value.
I have tried several other protein powders and this product is one of the best for high protein, flavor and texture. The only drawback is that sucralose is used to sweeten the product.

Great Taste, Clean Ingredients, and Fantastic Value, My New Go To Protein.
I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years, and Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate really impressed me , especially at this price point. The chocolate flavor is rich but not overly sweet, and it blends smoothly with water, milk, or smoothies without clumping. 🥤 What I loved: Great flavor without being overpowering: It has a clean chocolate taste without that artificial aftertaste that many budget proteins have. Mixes well: Whether I shake it in a bottle or throw it in a blender, the texture is smooth and drinkable no gritty bits or weird foam on top. Simple, transparent ingredients: No fillers, no proprietary blends. I appreciate knowing exactly what I’m putting into my body. 5lb size is perfect for consistency: I drink a shake post-workout almost daily, and this will last me a good while without needing to reorder too soon. 💪 Performance & Digestion: This protein feels light on my stomach and hasn’t caused any bloating or discomfort. I’ve noticed good recovery and energy levels since I started using it, especially after lifting sessions. 💡 Pro tip: Blend it with a frozen banana and almond milk for a treat that tastes like a chocolate milkshake.

Nutricost Protein Powder is the Best Whey on the Market
A few weeks ago, I went to buy another jug and saw that they were going for $80. That’s obscene! I made the decision that I needed to find a more affordable protein powder. If you’re reading this, you’ve probably found yourself here because you’re thinking the same thing. Well, let me put your mind at rest by saying that Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate is your optimum replacement. Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate packs 25 grams of protein, with only 3 grams of fat, and 3 grams of carbohydrates. It has a slightly higher fat content, but an additional 1.5 grams per serving is hardly something to worry about. It also boasts 6 simple ingredients, which was a must for me. There wasn’t a long list of chemicals and additives, and it contained no soy; which was something I had been looking to get away from. Nutricost Whey Protein Concentrate is also gluten-free, a non-GMO product, third party tested, and GMP compliant. Meaning, that it’s not some “fly by night” brand that’s just trying to make money off of you. I know you’re thinking, “That’s great, but how does it taste?” Let me tell you, it tastes great! I usually add mine to my oatmeal in the morning, but I’ve tried it with milk and water. All three went down smoothly and made the consumption enjoyable. Most importantly, a 5lb. jug only cost $51.26; $18.48 less than Optimum Nutrition and considerably less than other brands. I’ve seen 2lb. jugs cost that much! If your goal is to supplement your protein intake with a powder that tastes great, isn’t stacked with a bunch of chemicals and additives you don’t need, and at an affordable price, I believe this is the best protein powder you can get. Don’t just take my word for it, though. Try it out for yourself. I think you’ll be glad that you did.
