Review: Best winemaking book I have purchased! - I have been buying up winemaking books this past few years as I purchased a small vineyard in 2010 and am now starting to make wine (or try to anyway). I bought many good books and read them cover to cover and learned much valuable info, but this book, man-o-man! From the minute I received it and opened the pages I was stunned as to how much better this book is to the library of other books I have. This book takes a topic and explains it to a degree no other book does. It gives reasons to the practices and why they are the way they are. It breaks down the wine making process into easy to understand yet very scientific ways to help you make good if not great wine. A sure sign it goes into depth, the amount written. This book is twice the size (page count) then any other I have. I sure wish I found this book a year ago! If you are starting out or have been making wine for years I am sure this book will help you. Review: If you needed just one book..... - I have purchased just about every home winemakers book out there looking for the one that's just right. I even bought some UC Davis college textbooks. This one's not too technical, but technical enough to be able to understand the science behind the scenes. This is now my go to winemaking book. It's got an easy to understand process for yeast hydration, fermentation and a nice section on troubleshooting. He also has a detailed discussion about equipment. If you are going to purchase just one book, this one will do it for you.

Excellent and in-depth highly recommended
The book is well written and contains numerous photos, illustrations, charts, tables and graphs. The author covers every conceivable aspect of winemaking in a clear and in-depth manor. Even though the target audience is the home winemaker, commercial applications are also covered and there are sections on how the pros do it. Every piece of equipment, technique, chemical, method and product used in wine making is covered. There is an excellent chapter on analyzing and adjusting the must. I've learned a lot and continue learning from this book. If you are at all interested in learning about winemaking then you will love this book.

Best single book about winemaking I've ever read
Hands down, this is the best single book I've ever read about winemaking. Written in plain English, with lots of charts, tables, and photographs to help you understand the process of making and properly filtering, bottling, and storing wine. The author is very approachable and has answered all the emails I have sent him about the topic. Daniel Pambianchi has a scientific background, so he can certainly provide the gritty chemistry details if you are so inclined. I have met him and attended his lectures at winemaking seminars... you simply must get this book and meet him if at all possible. You will not regret it.

Great Ref Book
Fantastic reference book with some in depth science. Good for the book shelf to ref, but I highly recommend "From Vines to Wines" as an all around fun to read intro into backyard wine making. But really, order both of them!

I think his book is wonderful
I am a amateur winemaker so when I started to look for a book, Pambianchi was mentioned on several websites as one you should have. I know other reviews will state a lot more facts but those who rated this a five star or a four star are right on. I have a number of books, hundreds of printed out pages from internet sources and several well written PDF booklets. I think of all the books I have is the best so far. lastly, maybe there are other books which are better and I have not bought those yet but you cannot go wrong with his book.

Excellent book for the home wine maker
This is a great book. I use this book as a reference for all my wine making. I took Daniel's class and learned a tremendous amount. He goes into excellent detail in all the aspects of wine making. He was even kind enough to sign it for me. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I will not need any other wine-making book!
I will not need any other wine-making book! When I purchased this book, I hoped to receive some more answers than I already know. After reading half of book, I am already thrilled about detailed information I have received. No need for other books about wine making in my library. Now searching for inexpensive (less than $30) technical wine grape growing book- same amount of information.

Very good book!
Very good book! It contains very good explainations about the processes envolved in prodution. I read it all and consult/re-read some parts several times. I would like to have more grapes and explanation of old techniques used in Portugal/ Spain and sometime it's too much towards to make it in small quantities, that's the only reason why I can't give 5 stars
