M1 / M1 EVO Bluetooth and Mesh Intercom Smart Communications Mountain Bike Helmets

ok, quick and dirty review. I got the sena M1 helmet in white. Fit, the fit is good, easy to adjust and not too heavy. Haven't tested in the Florida summers yet, so can't comment on airflow but so far it's no worse than my older Bell hemlet. sound quality, Well, the volume is fine, you can adjust it to fit your needs via the side control on the helmet or via the iPhone. The sound QUALITY is ok. the low bass sounds are no existent (what do you expect from small speakers), for those old enough just think AM radio sound quality. However the plus behind this is you can hear outside noise (traffic, honking horns, other people) which is a huge safety factor. Customer service, excellent. When I first tried to adjust the straps one of the tabs for the clips broke. I called customer service and they quickly mailed me a new clip for free. Can't beat that! A+ to them. Overall I love the helmet. I haven't tested out the intercom with other helmets yet, but I"m sure it will work fine. Streaming a podcast or talk radio (via streaming) seems to be its niche, music is OK.

This is, single-handedly, the best bike accessory we have. It's an absolute "must have." The bluetooth intercom function makes group biking a group activity as opposed to several people riding alone, together. We purchased 3 of the non-evo helmets so I can't speak about those but have to believe they are similar. The Good: Battery life- it's stunning. My legs crap out long before the helmet does. Range - line of sight but that can be 1/4 mile or more. Safety light - nice to have. Intercom and cell phone call quality - amazing! The absolute absence of wind noise is amazing! The Bad: If you are using it for music from your phone, it's a bit tinny. I typically use bone conducting headphones for music and the helmet for intercom/phone. Also, the pairing process is a bit bizarre but once you get used to it, it's fine. Overall this is an amazing helmet and I couldn't see biking without it.

Love these helmets. Would definetly would but again. Wouldn’t ride our bike with out them! Feel safe and very functional!

Th M1 has the added duck bill for a bit more shade and Sena smart comms work well with others and iOS for tunes. It is your head, protect it from bad stuff happening. Better to buy it use it and not ever need it, than the alternative...

This helmet is quite comfortable, adjusts well and stays comfortable after a long ride. Like most people I imagine, I bought a pair of these for their communications capabilities, which I see as three main things. 1: Phone. This works well enough as a phone headset, it would be better with some voice command features, for example to answer a call by voice command. Aside from that the audio quality is good, the speakers are tinny but adequate, the microphone is good and wind/noise rejection seems to be good enough in most cases. When there is a lot of environment noise it can be tough to hear the call and the other person hears a lot of noise. 2: Music. As others have said, the speakers are super tinny, with close to zero low-end response. I still like this better than ear buds so I can hear what's going on around me but still get some music as a distraction. If you expect good sound quality for your tunes, you're not going to get it. 3: Intercom. This is the killer feature. We just took a 4-hour ride with the intercom on the whole time, and it was nearly flawless. Twice the audio degraded to the broken-robot state when digital comms get out of sync, but a quick disconnect then connect fixed the problem. The sound quality was plenty good enough the entire time except for those two times the things got out of sync. We were on mostly flat open terrain and the range went out to about a quarter mile without issue, beyond that it seems like we were stretching the limits. Summary: After 4 hours the battery reported 80% so more than adequate battery life, audio quality good enough for phone and intercom, but sorta crappy for music. The intercom feature is awesome. Overall highly recommend as long as you can live with tinny music. I can't give 5 stars due to the tinny sound, I'd give 4.5 if Amazon allowed fractional stars. Two things I'd like to see improved: sound quality, and firmware update from the app rather than having to use a computer with a USB connection.

I'd love to give these 5 stars but I currently have 2 helmets I can't use... I bought two; one for me one for my wife. We used them a couple times and they were GREAT! Absolutely having an intercom makes riding together so much better. Neither of us hear so well and add traffic or just not being able to ride next to each other and the ability to just carry on a conversation is wonderful. HOWEVER... After about 1 week the clasps that hold the strap tight broke on one helmet. They can't be replaced so I had to get an RMA. After about 15-18 emails and chat transactions, I FINALLY got them to replace it. OK, super annoying to have to go through that much for a simple defect, but we got the new one finally. THEN, a week later, one of the buttons stopped working on the 2nd helmet. Makes it so the helmet can not be turned on. Ugh, begin the support procedure by opening a support ticket. Long story short, I am 10-12 emails deep in begging for service and they have completely stopped responding to my requests. Not to mention I had a long online chat conversation with them on their website, PROMISING to escalate and resolve the matter just to have them promptly ghost me after that. So now we have $300+ of intercom helmets that are basically USELESS. I should have known it was too good to be true. I guess there is a reason that the other options are a bit more expensive.

Bought two of these for communicating with my wife during bike rides. The communication is great, the music sounds kinda "tinny". That being said, they are worth every penny. Lightweight, comfortable, they even shade my face from the sun.

Great helmets for us. We really like these helmets. My husband and I each got one and they work great. So nice to be able to communicate without having to turn our heads around and yell at each other. We feel so much safer sharing the roads with vehicles wearing these helmets. We also like the Bluetooth connectivity feature.

Funciona de maravilla. Fue un regalo y le encanta. La calidad de sonido es impecable y la batería aguanta muy bien.

Super casque velo pour se promener à deux sans devoir crier pour échanger (on peut monter à 4 en conversion full-duplex). Autonomie importante mais vitesse de recharge trop lente à mon goût. Ceci dit, il faut juste anticiper. Plusieurs centaines de mètres de portée en milieu ouvert. Impec pour écouter la radio ou sa musique et prendre ses appels téléphoniques. Le tout sur 3 touches situées sur le côté gauche du casque, et avec avec 1 seul doigt sans quitter la route du regard. Conduite à une main indispensable le temps de faire la manipulation. Sympa avec un enfant pour le ramener dans le rail et lui communiquer les consignes. Audio et annulation de bruit ambiant (vent) super bien réalisés.

Der Helm ist trotz der Elektronik recht leicht und hat einen gute Passform. Das Intercom funktioniert einwandfrei, klar und deutlich. Erst Installation ist ein wenig fummelig, aber nicht schwierig. Mit dem Handy sich zu koppeln funktioniert ohne Probleme und ist bei jedem Nutzen wieder direkt verbunden. Die Reichweite von den Helmen ist gut, ich denke so ca. 300m und etwas mehr. Einstellen lässt er sich gut, so daß man einen angenehmen Sitz bekommt. Eine eingebaute LED ist tagsüber und erst recht nachts super hilfreich, so das man gut gesehen wird. Der Akku hält super, sind jetzt ca. 160km in Teilstücke gefahren und der ist noch nicht leer.
