3 🌟🤔 I think I'm an outlier once again but I didn't find it fascinating or mind-blowing at all. It was very slow until the last 10 pages and there aren't plot twists either. I couldn't feel sad or worried about the missing "people" but maybe the only character who I felt some kind of connection was Kate 😬 I don't know, I don't really think is that worthy tbh.

Twisty domestic suspense that kept me hooked until the very last page
I picked up the Collector’s Edition of Local Woman Missing by Mary Kubica on a recommendation and it completely exceeded my expectations. This is a masterclass in psychological suspense and small-town mystery. The story follows the disappearance of two women — a mother and her young daughter — who vanish from their neighborhood one night. Eleven years later, another woman suddenly reappears, setting off a chain of revelations that turns the entire community upside down. What I loved most is how Kubica weaves multiple timelines and perspectives together so skillfully. The tension builds gradually but relentlessly, with each chapter revealing just enough to keep you frantically turning pages. The characters feel incredibly real — flawed, complex, and deeply human — which makes the emotional stakes even higher. There were several jaw-dropping twists I genuinely didn’t see coming, especially toward the final act. The Collector’s Edition itself is beautiful. The sprayed edges, high-quality paper, and elegant design make it a gorgeous addition to any bookshelf. If you enjoy gripping domestic thrillers with dark secrets, unreliable narrators, and shocking revelations (think authors like Gillian Flynn or Lisa Jewell), this one is a must-read. I finished it in two days because I couldn’t put it down. Easily one of the best psychological thrillers I’ve read in the past few years. Highly recommended!
