Awesome tipper!
I'm new to the bodhran - been playing for a few months. I've used 2 different tippers (not including the wretched tipper that came with my drum - I chucked that one...) and decided I wanted to add another to my collection. This tipper is slightly longer (about 1/2 inch) than my favorite tipper (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AYXL70/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_hst_3) and is not quite as heavy. It doesn't quite give the bang of the off-center groove tipper, which is a good thing for some rhythms. The added length makes playing triplets a bit easier. Definitely worth the purchase. This is definitely a close second in regard to favorites of mine. If you're considering this tipper, definitely get it. You won't regret it!

Totally pleased!
As a complete beginner to the bodhrán, I didn't know one tipper from another. I chose this one based on another positive review, and it just made sense to me that this style would be a good one - oval cross section in the grip area, raised areas towards the ends for reference, and somewhat smaller knobs as compared with the tipper that came with my drum. A rubber band tied around the center of any tipper can go far towards preventing slipping while also giving a changeable "set point" (credit to Michelle Stewart for this great idea). I can recommend this tipper without reservations. I would only add that, while a good fit and comfortable, this tipper doesn't noticeably improve my playing. I feel sure there are many excellent tippers and that ultimately it's just a matter of finding what works best for you. [Later note: I bought a second one of these which was also very nice but does not have the oval cross section - not a deal breaker but good to know.]

Much better than the one that came with my bodhrán
I'm a complete beginner to the bodhrán. A few months ago a bought an inexpensive one (see my review of "Trophy Bodhran 14 in") and I've been enjoying it. The tipper that came with it seemed short, and I couldn't play triplets because my hand got in the way. I finally bought this tipper instead. What a difference! It sounds better and feels better, and within minutes I was playing triplets. The shape also seems to help prevent slipping. Since I have almost no experience, I can't compare this tipper to other tippers you might buy. But I can tell you that it's so much better than the one that came with the bodhrán! If you get a bodhrán that comes with a tipper, and you're having a hard time with it, try this tipper instead.

Great Length & Heft
Has a good length and heft. I like the rounded edges. If you order two, each one will be a little different. This is the best tipper I have found. It is solid and controllable.

great product. was exactly what was pictured, however the balance point is not correct. Otherwise was perfect.

Go to tipper
I'm a freelance percussionist, so I play a wide variety of instruments. I had made my own bamboo tipper for a gig because what I had wasn't suited to what I was playing. I bought this as a secondary option and it is my new general use tipper. Handles triplets well, gets a full sound and is a great length. For fast up/down strokes, this will work, but takes a lot more effort, so maybe not a good choice if you're playing a long gig with fast songs.
