Beautiful and functional
This pot is beautiful! It was a little more expensive than the other brands but it is so pretty and high quality. It was packed well and made it across the country pretty fast. I couldn't be happier.

Excellent product
Bought this as a gift for my son and daughter in law. The first time they used it for baked beans and were very pleased with the quality of the product. From there they brnched out to stews and soups - they are very pleased with the beanpot. The glaze color on the stoneware is very even and looks just like the photo on the web site. Fits in well with the decor in their kitchen.

Well made and easy to clean
Well made and easy to clean. The lid is developing a small crack on the bottom mating surface. The crock makes excellent baked beans

Hard to find REAL Stoneware Bean Pot
I've been searching for a real stoneware crockery bean pot forever. Nowadays they're all thin ceramic and really not much more than a round casserole dish. My grandmother and great grandmother, from New England, made the best baked beans in the world; good old New England baked beans. They BOTH had stoneware bean pots. The heavier stoneware allows for LONG-SLOW baking (were talking 12-13 hours in a 300 degree oven). I still use the family recipe with maple syrup, an onion studded with cloves, and salt-pork: yes it means getting up at 3:00am to turn the oven on and go back to bed. The modern ceramic bean pots I've tried simply do not work well. Often burning on the inside due to the long cooking time and thin ceramic. Stoneware crockery, being thicker and more sturdy, protects better and the beans come out perfectly. It's good to know there's still a company in the USA making real stoneware crockery. My only minor distraction is the handle on the lid. It's a smooth round nub about an 3/4 inch high rather then a round T handle like my grandmother's. Always worried when using a hot pad that the lid will slip. there's nothing to grasp. It's not slipped primarily because I've been very careful. It's not a major concern and I still give this bean pot 5 stars. the manufacturer could do a better lid handle design.

Impossible to pick up lid when hot
While I love the “idea” of a bean pot… this design is absolute garbage. When the lid is 300+ degrees and you have to stir in an ingredient or keep your beans from sticking and burning you literally cannot take the lid off it’s a slippery dome rather than something you can actually grab with a tong or hot mit or hell even a rag…. Well today, the 2nd time I’ve used this, the lid slipped out from the silicone coated tongs I use when I have to do an overly complicated procedure to remove and replace the lid and smashed rendering this worthless and useless. I could literally buy cases of B&M beans and save money.

Not the best quality
This was not the older stoneware bean pot. Thinner material that looked like it could break easily. The cover also lacked any place to grip it firmly. I am certain we would have broken the cover and/or pot with limited use.

Great for Boston baked beans
I love this pot!! Perfect for homemade baked beans. It is the perfect shape and size. I baked my Boston baked beans for 5 hours and they came out perfect and delicious. I thought it was going to be hard to clean the baked on drippings on the outside, but all I had to do is soak it and it all came off. Worth the money!

Defective
I used the pot once. Handwashef with Mrs Myers soap. Ceramic came off. Very surprised as this was a rather expensive piece.
