Aprilaire 201 Compatible Media Filter 2-Pack

These are great filters the do a great job of cleaning the air for the whole house. They require a little assembly to install but it’s not hard just a bit tedious. Such is the nature of the beast. Longevity is great at my house under my conditions. They fit my furnace perfectly.

They are finickity to install on the “comb” blades. But they work as intended. Be careful not to puncture the filter material when installing.

My Space Guard 2200 is approaching 40 years of age and I reinstalled it on a new furnace 20 years ago. I have not done any kind of upgrade nor see any reason for upgrading. I replace the model 201 filter every 6 months. And don’t mind the 10 minute effort of replacing the filter. A few years ago Aprilaire changed filter construction from running a string through each pleat to a glued ribbon on each edge of their pleats. Additionally the filter media is not quite as thick and is a little more fragile. When they changed filter construction - it required snipping the ribbon at each end so the end caps don’t overstretch the ribbon and tear the filter media. Then the combs fall into place separating and supporting each pleat. However, that is not documented anywhere. Just a little common sense. Although the filter media is a little less thick it still filters just as good. It also requires gentle handling so you don’t rip the material when inserting the combs. But that extra care is only a 1 time thing every 6 months. I also appreciate their filter price has only slightly increased through the years. I recollect the price a long time ago around 30 bucks each. And now, when you buy a 2 pack it comes out to about 35 bucks each.

These filters are genuine AprilAire and the price is great. So glad I checked Amazon this time around. Wouldn't use anything else because these keep the air clean and our home practically dust free.
