I've been on the lookout for an electric razor that can shave as close as a Gillette Fusion 5 blade razor and was at the point of giving up. I've tried all brands including top of tbe range Philips, Hitachi ,Panasonic and even this razors predecessor. All of them did reasonably good to very good but were ultimately beaten by the aforementioned Gillette wet razor. That was until I took delivery of this Braun Series 9 Pro + . Complete with a charging case and cleaning station it immediately struck me as a quality product. The battery is flat on arrival so it needs to be fully charged before use. This process is very quick however and the razor can be charged either directly via the supplied mains charger or via the cleaning station In use I tried it with a full weeks worth of beard growth. The initial pass did take the majority of stubble off but also left some behind. After repeating the pass several times and using the beard trimming blade I had a shave the equal of my much vaunted Gillette Fusion razor. After I'd finished, cleaning it was a matter of placing the razor in the cleaning station and letting the cleaning station do all the hard work. The cleaning station also recharges the razor. Unlike the Panasonic unit I've used in the past the razor is cleaned to perfection. It also handles beautifully ,is easy to use and provides for me a top quality 'close as a blade' shave without the skin irritation of competitor brands. So is there anything to be aware of? Yes sadly there's a few niggles: First this whole setup is...NOISY. It is noisy in operation and noisy when being cleaned . It also vibrates considerably when in use. You will certainly know when you are using it Second is that with a weeks worth of stubble it is going to need several passes over the facial area and even then will not necessarily pick up every stray hair. It will need use of the trimmer blade to remove longer and elusive stray hairs and that may need several passes. So the process is potrntially slow and needs to be repeated potentially several times. But the overall shave is for me utter perfection with a billiard ball like smoothness resulting without any skin irritation or burning whatsoever. And that is near miraculous for me who has suffered razor burn and other maladies with competitor brands. Despite the foibles I would strongly recommend this electric razor. If you are using it after a couple of days stubble growth, the need to repeat the process will probably not be necessary. And it will most certainly be a lot quicker. Overall a fantastic razor combination.

Great shaver, in some ways better than a razor?
A very expensive shaver, but worth every penny. I've been using it daily for a couple of years, and it's brilliant. The charge lasts about 2 weeks, the same now as when I bought it. The cleaning station is a great addition which I use regularly, but between using the fluid I do use the supplied brush as the cleaning fluid is very expensive. It may not shave as close as a manual razor, but it's still good and saves on shaving nicks. I find it very comfortable to use and I don't get any irritation from using it. Razors I find produce more irritation. I've not used the charging case as the charge lasts long enough but it's a great idea.

Its not cheap but its a long term keeper.
The shaver is always listed as one of the top or if not the top shaver available & with good cause. With an RRP of £649 you would have to be seriously rich to afford it but it can be found at huge discounts & I got mine at a 57% discount and paid £280 for it, still expensive but the last shaver I had lasted 16 years so on that basis is good value. I did look at the Phillips 9000 Pro range but the variety of models & prices were overwhelming and the reviews of their cleaning solutions did not encourage me to keep looking. The Braun is more of a conventional shaver & as such is more natural to use. For me It shaves exceptional well & my family have commented on how much more clean shaven I look nowadays. It is comfortable on the skin, easy to clean & the charging case keeps the shaver topped up with battery power. The shaver is lighter than you might expect but has a premium feel to it & the charging case is solid & rugged.. The beard trimmer is integral to the shaver & simply pops up when in use as opposed to the Phillips for example that requires a module to be attached & unattached. It is not as good as a dedicated head/beard trimmer but I have a cheap one of those which is perfectly ok for my use. If the shaver lasts as long as my last one I will be happy & consider the money well spent, I just wish that the shaver was sold at a more realistic price and you didn't have to rely on a crazy discount before it was viable.

Great shaver but very very expensive
I’ve had a few shavers over the years, nothing like this but they’ve all been ok I guess. Then I thought I’d treat myself because shaving started to become a chore. Not one that shaved every day anyway it was something I did not look forward to. So I figured a decent quality shaver might help? I wasn’t wrong. Although this costed a ridiculous amount really it is quick and does a really good job. I couldn’t fault it really. One thing that isn’t so good is the docking/cleaning station. Having used the cartridge of cleaning fluid that came with it and having read it should last a couple of months I was disappointed when after less than a month and the liquid was very low and filthy. It doesn’t seem to take long for the liquid to evaporate, and it isn’t cheap. I considered buying a 5lt can and refilling the cartridge but after reading horror stories of people shavers rusting etc I soon stuck to buying the originals. The travel case is a must too, although I guess no one is ever too far from a power socket. Very pleased with this overall and shaving isn’t a hateful job now. If you can get over the original cost you won’t regret buying this. It really does shave close and do as good a job as a wet shave. In fact it says you can shave wet with this…but I have no idea why you would want to.

It's an absolute beast
I really wasn't sure before buying this shaver. It's not the cheapest, so unless you're really quite financially flush, it's a consideration without doubt. However, I picked this up on a black Friday deal, and I've been using it for three days now, and wanted to sing its praises. I've an average (whatever that may be) type of beard growth. By that I mean that I've never had particular issues with using electric shavers, but I had mainly been a wet shave person. I had in the past used the Braun series 3, but found it a bit underwhelming in truth. The amount of passes I had to make just felt like it was more trouble than it was worth, and so I moved hastily back to my default of wet shaving. However, over the last year I started looking at a new shaver, really out of boredom and because I was also becoming a bit lazy with having to lather up. I plumped for the Philips 9000, which is of course a rotary head shaver. It works quite well once your face gets used to the circular type motions, and I'd been relatively impressed..... However, me being me, I started to both look at online and watch reviews of other brands, and came across the Braun Series 9 pro plus. After hovering over the 'buy now' button, I eventually committed, and I am so glad I did. This thing is in my own view on a different level. When I feel my face, if I've completed enough passes with the shaver, it's almost up with a wet shave. It's just a beast in my view. It supposedly has some form of sonic function built in, which I think you can actually feel when you're shaving as it's very 'vibraty' (yes, I know that's not a real word). You can just feel the power this thing generates, and being quite loud it just feels like the noise is all part of the 'meaty' engine on this thing. I know that everyone has their different hair type, preferences and own experiences, but from my perspective I am absolutely blown away. I won't review the accessories, but just say that the cleaning station is excellent, as it dries off the shaver as part of the cleaning cycle. Some aren't fussed about cleaning stations, but me personally I love what it does. My view is buy it. I genuinely think that the vast majority of folks would be as impressed as I am.

Excellent shave, even better when you have 3 day stubble
Have used a cruZer3 since 2004 and only changed the foil and blades once and used 5 days a week. CruZer3 was good and gave a good shave, still had good battery life (why can't Apple learn from Braun on battery longevity?!?) but it did not do well on older stubble, rubber cover to switch was perishing and I thought it was time to upgrade. Enter the Braun Series 9!! Shaves very well and it seems even better when you have three days of stubble! Took some getting used to small corners like at entry to nostrils but now have that sorted. And it is fast! At least half the time to shave compared to the cruZer3. Charges fast and runs for weeks on a charge. Perfect for my trips away. As described by others it is noisy which is the only negative I have about the shaver but not bothered by the noise enough to reduce the score. Came with a travel case that also carries charge for extending use away from home. It weighs about as much as the shaver so unless you are travelling to a remote location without power, why would you not just take the charging cable which is small and light? And I get weeks on a single charge so really do not see the use of the travel case so it sits in a drawer. Perhaps the shaver is safer in its case but I protect in clothes in my bag so not even useful there. The washing station does a good job at cleaning the head but it is not small and I am yet to find a nice place for it in the bathroom where real estate is at a premium. Not convinced I would get this again but as I have it I use it and it works well. Definitely happy with the upgrade and would recommend the Series 9 100%. Note score is for the shaver and not the accessories which I don't consider essential.

The Very Best Razor - Just My Opinion
I have used a wet razor for most of my life, and always felt I got the best shave possible. My skin wasn’t overly sensitive, but shaving very day irritated my skin and I developed the odd cut and a rash on my skin. A couple of years ago I thought I would try a Braun Series 7. I was very impressed with the excellent results, and for the first time I could truly report a smooth clean shave every time, no matter the frequency. I don’t wet shave anymore. The myth of wet is better than electric is a MYTH. About a month ago the razor battery started acting up, and I decided on a change, rather than a repair, which could well be costly. Enter the Braun S9 Pro with charging case and cleaning station. In my opinion the results from this model is outstanding. The whole package is perfect. I don’t want to rant on, but wet shaving is definitely a thing of the past. This razor allows daily, extra close shaving AND no irritation of my skin. This razor, in my humble opinion is fabulous. Smooth, smooth daily skin is a new experience for me. Obviously there are Philips, Panasonic and other Manufacturers, of which I am unaware. If any of them have a comparable model I congratulate them. Unfortunately I am not interested. The Braun S9 Pro is the ultimate for me and completely blows away wet shaving. The quality of the whole package is amazing, the icing on the cake is the fantastic charging case. I managed to get an excellent deal from Amazon UK. Worth every penny, and portable.

Not the best in humid environments
After one time sent for repair, 4 times battery replacements and weird behavior especially while traveling in humid countries, finally I gave up of 3 years use of this shaver. It's a good shaver, but compared to market contenders, major draw backs are it's design with above faults and strong noise when operating. Not recommended if you live or travel to humid environments. See the video of one of many weird behaviors, it's showing charging while charger is not plugged in.
