Does this work with a mac computer or only windows? does it work with an android phone?

The CD that comes with the product is labeled "USB DataLogger Software Designed for: Windows 2000/XP/VISTA/7/8". I use it on a Mac using a Windows emulator. It works fine to download the data to a CSV file or to display the data on a simple graph within the program.

Can this do any sort of alerting if the temperature varies beyond a given threshold? Like an email if it gets hotter 90 degrees.

Sorry, this data logger doesn't have the alert function you mentioned.

What is the response time for temperature changes?

Hi, if the logging interval time setted less than 60s, the unit will measure temperature as the setted interval time. If the logging interval time setted more than 60s, the unit will measure temperature every 60s. Any question, please contact us via support@ecowitt.com.:)

Can the sensor remain hooked up to the computer via the USB cable to provide continuous temp & humidity readings?

The program that controls the Ecowitt (installed from an included mini-CD) allows you to set operating parameters, download data to a file, and view a graph of the data. Data is only transferred when you click the button. It does not automatically stream to a file. At the default 5 minute sampling interval it would take over two months to fill the memory in the sensor.
