Orbit Front Trigger 10-Pattern Turret Wand with Ratcheting Had - 58674

These last a few years or summers with light use. Don't hurl it to the ground when you're done using it or it could break. The only reason my last one broke is because they landscapers abused it so the top cracked. I had another go bad because I left it outside when the temp dipped below zero and it the frozen water cracked it. It's not indestructible. so you use common sense and it will last a long time. There are many fun settings for the water when you rotate the turret. It's great for watering the garden, washing the car, or washing stuff outside in the driveway.

UPDATE 1/26/2015: Just some follow up comments to put ahead of my original review. I broke my original wand when I stepped on it (it was on the edge of a cinder block and the angle was just right for it to snap). First of all, that was a freak accident, this wand is actually pretty sturdy. Well, I ordered a new wand that day. Now, about two months after I began using the new wand, I noticed a small drip coming from the joint between the valve and the actually wand pipe. It gradually got worse. So, I called Orbit customer service and told them about this. They immediately sent me a new wand... no questions asked. I'm very pleased with them. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I just received this item today and I immediately tried it out. I love it. My first two watering wands broke because the spring in the trigger mechanism wore out. With this product, you do not have to deal with a trigger style handle. It's just a simple fire hose style valve. One nice thing I like is that I don't have to squeeze a trigger the whole time I'm watering in order to get a stream of water. All I need to do is open and close a valve. I think this feature would make this wand good for folks who can't grip for a long period of time. The head is adjustable. That's a big deal. I was looking at the more expensive Gardena wand, and its head did not adjust. I think that is what swayed me to this product (plus the Orbit wand was about 15 bucks cheaper). I really can't fuss with twisting and tilting a wand to accommodate the angle I need to water. I need an adjustable head to do that work for me. I will keep updating this review to let you know how durable this wand is. Longevity is, of course, supremely important. I'll keep you posted.

Ordered this to aid a house sitter in watering the plants while on vacation. This thing works great, goes from a soft gentle mist to a pure jet and every setting in between with a simple twist of the nozzle. The adjustable head is also a great feature that allows easy watering above your head or below your feet. I would have given it 5 stars if the on-off lever was metal and stored in the off position against the body of the device instead of 90-degrees out. Since it is plastic and doesn't store against the body of the unit I can see that it might be easily broken. Other than that is has held up with no problem for a month already with everyday use.

We were looking for a good hose wand to help with watering the garden and for washing the underside/underbody of our cars to remove harsh road salts during winter and this Orbit hose wand does a very good job at both those tasks. The long handle makes watering our garden much less strenuous on my back, as I can water the whole garden without constantly bending down and the compact head of the wand fits easily beneath the car when we want to wash the underbody. The 9 spray patterns are nice and include all of the common ones like shower, jet, mist, flood, etc. The ratcheting head is wide and has a decent amount of pressure and most importantly the head stays in the position you put it in! The wand is well made with a solid metal pole and the plastic parts (e.g., the head) are made from good quality plastic. The only negative of the wand is that it can leak from the bottom, where it connects to the hose, if it gets turned in any way. The wand tends to get turned easily and it's annoying to get wet every time the wand is bumped. We use the insertable hose attachment connectors you find at home improvement stores to fix the problem. While no hose wand on the market is perfect or leak-proof, the orbit wand has been the best we have used so far. We purchased the Orbit wand in January 2016.

This is my second purchase of this particular watering wand. I made the made mistake of accidentally leaving my original one outside throughout the winter and by the time the weather heated up and I realized my mistake, the wand was leaking from the head, the joint near the head, from the on/off pull and from where it connects to my hose. Even so, it is the best wand I have ever used. It has an extremely long reach (36 inches) which allows me to reach areas I would really rather not walk into (what with spiders, snakes, and other creatures abounding near my home.) I really like the way the wand turns on/or and that you can reduce or increase the flow with the same ratcheting switch. It has many different flow choices and I use most of them depending on the delicacy of the plant I am watering. I will just be absolutely sure not to leave this wand out again. It had lasted a number of years until I made my mistake, and barring that, would probably have last a lot longer.

Durable, nice looking, easy to use.

I could not use this. The wand itself kept flying off of the handle, the joint couldnt handle the pressure of the water flow and I kept get drenched. Then there was leakage where the wand met the hose. I bought this to replace an Aldi hose head I accidentally dropped and broke, but despite being cheap, the head I bought from Aldi was far superior

Just got mine and spent an hour watering everything in our yards that were just about cooked from our recent heat wave. I tried every setting and am pleased at how it performed. No leaks or broken bits!
