Awesome stocking stuffer
Snagged a bunch of these as stocking stuffers for buddies and they were an instant hit. Really impressed by the functionality of the pack itself, clean and discrete appearance with good storage capacity for the included materials Easy to use with the right training and good material thickness of the container if you wanted to use it for a charcloth tin

A very complete, high quality fire kit
I have purchased photography items from Steve in the past with very satisfied results on the completeness of the package deal. While looking for primitive fire starting kits, I purchased a few from other vendors and they were mediocre at best. I saw this pop up on my purchase suggestions and bought 2 right away, knowing how complete Steve's items are. I bought one each for my buddy and I. I have to say Steve does not disappoint. The fatwood was fresh and smelled wonderful. The fatwood dust was also very fresh. The ferro rod works great and I like that everything fits neatly in an oversized tin that fits into my Condor Molle gadget pouch on my pack. There was one tiny glitch that Steve took care of promptly. One of the kits was missing the small knife. He shipped the missing piece in time for my outing with my buddy. The fire started relatively quickly with the addition of some frayed rope.

Everthing you need to start a fire in 1 kit.
Why did I purchased this Pocket survival fire starting kit from Steve Kaeser? , because everything you need to start a fire is in 1 kit. It's really a no brainer. The kit IMHO is reasonably priced and the items are of good quality. Everything pictured was included in my kit. I read other reviews where perhaps 1 item was overlooked (But Steve made good) but not in my case, Although i haven't used my kit yet, I have no doubt that it will function as intented. The small knife is roughly 3 3/8" it did come sharp, it wasn't razor sharp, but with minor work it should work out just fine. It did shave some hairs from my hand so it has promise. The wood pieces are 4" in length and they smell fantastic. Whenever i want to be in the woods i open this kit and I'm transported to the back woods. I live in the east so i have to travel a good while to appreciate what others have a few feet in there back yards. I luv my kit and I do recomend it. I will add, i am not affiliated with the vender nor did i receive a discount on the item for my review.

The saw is the biggest down fall
I’ve been a hunter, trapper and professional tracker my whole life, I did search and rescue/ recovery with my now 9 year old pit bull who is trained for for rescue/ recovery. I had to stop a few years ago do to shattering my ankle and heel when my horse fell down a cliff on a rescue. I’ve always been the only person on a search that carried a survival bag, pistol and rifle. That said I never travel with new gear I test everything at home. This is an awesome kit the heart wood is perfect, the little knife (why I bought this kit),is wonderful nice compact case my only complaint is the saw. It cut perfectly the first 2 times and after that it kept binding in the wood. Other than that awesome survival kit for the cost.

5 stars for quality!
I'm very pleased with this product and I'll try to make my review as short as possible. The Ferro rod is a great quality rod, made softer so it throws more sparks, and the included striker/bottle opener gets the job done very well. The included knife also does well to strike the Ferro rod with, as well as a traditional flint and steel style of striking, if you remove some of the paint. The wire saw is adequate for cutting down small trees, so long as you know how to use one. I made a few fires using the fat wood, but only as dust, I don't like to use an entire stick to start a fire. The twine was a good starter but I think it would be a better idea to add more wax to it so that it burns longer. I love the product overall and would recommend to anyone trying to learn more about fat wood, the process of lighting fires with it, and how to process it.

Great overall kit.
Firestick is effective and easy to use, kit is assembled well and conveniently, knife is sturdy and starts off sharp, fatwood awesome as always, love the tin! Only warning is the sheath doesn't stay on the blade that well, I would recommend leaving it safe in the tin to use when needed rather than carrying it in a pocket, it can also poke through easily. However, it's good for its purpose as affordable and lightweight. 5 stars!

Seems good overall but I did not receive a ferro rod. Otherwise exactly as advertised.
