The gold standard in ascenders
These are the gold standard for hand ascenders. I'm the technical rescue lead on a SAR team in Colorado. If you're doing rope work on your own or assisting another person, it's worth the extra expense to buy the authentic version of technical gear. You don't want to be relying on something to protect your life and start wondering if saving $10 might mean the difference between it working as expected or coming apart unexpectedly. Buy once, cry once, and you never need to worry. Also, read the owner's manual before using and make sure you understand the nuances related to using this particular piece of gear.
