Fixed our random alarm problem
Our dometic fridge in our camper was unreliable to say the least. It would randomly stop working and the alarm would go off. It might have worked for a few days or a few hours but eventually it would stop working. We replaced the thermistor which seemed to help with the temperature while it worked but it would still randomly stop working. Finally replaced the heating element with this one and so far so good. Let it run on propane for four days straight and on electric for three days with no issues. Fridge and freezer have been working great and holding a steady temperature. If you are having trust issues with your dometic fridge try this for a cheap fix before spending a fortune replacing the fridge. I had little faith this would solve our problem but it has and I feel much better when we are away from the camper that when we get back it will still be working just fine.

Perfect part for repair
I watched a video on how to change this element. It was fairly simple to change. Doing it myself saved a lot of time and money. It has been about 8 months of non-stop use since I bought it and is still working at keeping the refrigerator cold, like it should. It would buy again if/ when needed.

Instant fix after a decade
I decided to tackle our RV refrigerator not working on electricity, but it does work on propane, after buying four propane bottles last week. They are expensive! So, like every good American, I watched a YouTube video and started ordering things. In this case, all I needed was a fuse and a new heating element. Just watch a YouTube video to see how to remove the old one, look at it, and order a new one that looks like it. Ours came overnight and I fixed it the next day in about 30 minutes. The only tool I needed was one Phillips screwdriver. I also ordered a new fuse and got an entire box of them for six dollars. In about four hours, our refrigerator was unbelievably cool. And I’m not burning propane while it’s plugged in. And, I have a backup in case the power goes out. This is truly a no-brainer fix for your RV refrigerator if it is working on propane and not electricity. Watch a video, buy the fuses and the heating element, find a screwdriver, and be a hero to your family in 30 minutes.
