Yes. There is a solo mode to this game.

To confirm, can you flip stones, shift stones and score in the same turn?

Depending on how many cards you have in your hand. You start with 4 cards. If you can’t play anything then you can draw 2 cards so your next turn you’ll have 6. If you have a card that is worth 3 points and you need to make 4 moves to get the card set then yes you can flip, shift and score all in one swoop!

Could a player opposite rotate rotate the cards in his/her hand to show a more direct view of the upside down tiles?

You could rotate the cards just so another player would see/understand better. HOWEVER, unless given a house rule, the tiles and cards are to only be viwed from one angle/side.
