can the flow super be left out all winter (virginia) or will the plastic become too brittle?

Not sure about the plastic becoming to brittle but typically you would remove the super after the flow in the fall and the replace it in the spring.

Why is this over $700, When I read they originally sold for around $300?

Prices listed on crowdfunding campaigns are an incentive to encourage people to offer early support for a product which is not yet in production which can feel risky and requires confidence in the idea being presented. This comes with everything you need to get your hive set up (minus the bees!).We also recommend that you contact your local beekeepers and join a beekeepers club, as they can inform you about how to keep your bees happy and healthy; and they are the best resource for the most suitable beekeeping methods in your region and climate.
