Bright enough for an indicator light
Works fine on 9-12v. Not bright enough to use as a flashlight, but as an indicator light to show something is on its fine. I got them for an Arduino project to show a simple visual as to which mode was selected, and they perform that task well enough.

Smaller than I expected, bright but don't project the light
Smaller than I expected, I just didn't notice compared to the usual ones I buy. Even a group of 5 barely cast a glow a couple feet away. But to look directly at them, they are almost too bright. I wouldn't like them as an indicator light and they don't work as a red light even grouped together. Nice quality. I suggest drilling 1/32" smaller than 1/4".
