This Coil Spring Compressor tool, works as expected. Have used it on my Toyota Sienna Minivan, that had other tools fail. Was able to remove and reinstall my struts in record time with this tool.

I am so happy that there is now a better diy style coil spring compressor available to the weekend warrior with out breaking the bank. I am pleased to report that this style spring compressor works on the common older toyota trucks. First gen tundra, 4th gen 4Runner, FJ cruiser, etc style front coil springs. I am not sure if it will work with some of the more heavy duty after market options, but works great on the factory style.

Better than some I'd say middle of the road for this.

I ordered the PROKOMON Heavy Duty Coil Spring Compressor to assist in making some significant suspension upgrades to one of my older Mercedes SUVs. Quite frankly I don’t know what I would have done without it! This tool is great. It’s built from high quality materials and it’s tough as nails. It’s significant in its weight and leaves no doubt as to it’s heavy duty nature. Its design is such that mishaps when using it are rare (we did launch one spring at full compression because we failed to adequately secure the safety latch across the spring under compression. Fortunately no one was hurt with the unplanned release of kinetic energy. When using this device, please wear safety gear, exercise extreme caution, and follow the directions for use). This spring compressor, unlike some lower cost competitors, uses an outer coil compression frame, making it ideal for coil-over installations where you need the springs center clear to facilitate strut or shock attachment. We used the PROKOMON tool to compress our new Bilstein B3 OE front and rear coil springs for our older ML500, and it did a great job. The fitment for the new Bilstein springs was spot on. Keep in mind that the tool is adjustable for different sized springs. Tension / pressure / kinetic energy due to compression were well controlled by the device. I won’t tell you it’s easy to use but it’s certainly straightforward. It beats trying to use C-clamps or worse to compress a spring and it adds a margin of safety to the task by design. After my arm was exhausted from ratcheting the frame by alternating sides, I opted for using a battery powered impact drill on a slow speed, high torque setting and improved my overall compress time while maintaining a healthy margin of safety. The real test will come when we need to remove the older springs and compress them on the vehicle to aid in their removal / replacement. Given our experience paring the new Bilstein B6 strut assemblies with their new coils, I feel confident in the tools ability to get the job done both quickly and safely. I already have a couple of friends that want to borrow it when we are finished using it. There is no doubt, this tool isn’t a use it once and throw it away. It’s here for the long haul and the most difficult of tasks. Price wise, it’s more than fair for its quality and its safety features. Please read the manufacturers instructions before trying to use it. You’ll be happy you did. As for me, PROKOMON has delivered. It’s value to me in both time savings and added safety are worth every penny of the compressor tools modest cost. If you are replacing coil springs or other suspension components where you need to compress your coil springs for installation or something else, you want this tool in your toolbox. It comes with its own carrying case, too. I can’t reasonably ask for anything more. My only wish is that I’d bought it before!

In my opinion, this was absolutely the most imperative tool I’ve ever used to compress springs and feel safe while they’re doing it. Easy to use - worked well on upgraded 1/2 ton truck springs without any drama. The hooks work well and seat securely, the pitch on the screw makes cranking the springs down easy, and the overall design prevents any drama with bending parts. The "safety device" of a half moon ring is of questionable use, but overall the kit is great and great value.

En realidad este compresor funcionó para el propósito y auto que lo compré (Peugeot XS 206 1.6L 8V), recomiendo usar grasa anti traba de nickel o cobre (Anti-Seize) en mi caso usé el de nickel y funcionó perfecto en la cuerda de este compresor, tardé en hacer la reseña pues no lo había usado hasta hace poco, lo adquirí aquí en Amazon, en realidad me parece un compresor para uso ligero, quizá pueda con los resortes de algunas camionetas y suv, pero el vehículos más pesados quizá no sea adecuada, aunque no lo aseguraría pues no lo he probado en los resortes de mi Jeep KJ.

This tool feels safe at use. The 2 cocentric tubes slidding on each other take all the bending efforts generated by the compression; the screw is not getting bent like different models. That design makes this tool safe and robust. Furthermore, the 2 parts jaw with the screw ring to tigh it up prevents the tool to slip on the spring. One of the best if not the best spring compressor on Amazon, do not let the out of common design fool you, buy that tool you wont regret it! It did work effortlessly for my hyundai accent, it can definitly handle bigger springs. Great money value!

Item is very sturdy and easy to use. Used it to compress my Acura RDX strut springs with no difficulty.

A much more controlled experience than using cheap spring compressors.
