Pillar Rock Salmon Red Salmon

Best canned red salmon that I have bought for sometime. Tasted great. Good price too. People had complained about dented cans and the seller must have listened as the cans were double boxed plus additional paper that would make difficult to dent.

This salmon is every bit as good as the salmon we enjoyed in years gone bye. Salmon croquettes, an old timey recipe, was the best way to enjoy. Make an easy white sauce with melted butter, flour, and milk. Grate onion, season and add salmon with bones, skin and all - just mash it. Shape croquettes, dip in beaten egg, dip in cracker crumbs and brown in medium hot oil til golden brown. It's easier to shape croquettes if salmon mixture is chilled first. Also, the croquettes are great frozen and cook well from a frozen state. Chilling the canned salmon, adding a hard boiled egg, chopped celery, pickles, mayo and maybe mustard makes a tasty salmon salad - a welcome change from tuna or chicken salad.

This is a good quality product and Rare Beverages (the seller) did a great job of packaging it so that it arrived in perfect shape and undamaged.

My order arrived today. I know the Pillar Rock brand and know it is excellent salmon. My problem is that every one of the 12 cans were dented. These were probably rejected by retail stores, since they sell for over $11 @ can. When you pay a premium price, since I can buy Bumble Bee Red Salmond at Wal-Mart for $9 a can, you expect a decent product. I do not blame Pillar Rock for this, and their product is excellent. I blame the distributor, and Amazon should know better.

This product is getting more difficult to find. It’s a good healthy food product. Buy it.
