Märklin Christmas Starter Set.

This is a very neat little tabletop train. Showed up in perfect condition, and works great.

Arrived earlier than expected. All items were as advertised. The added decorations are pre-punched laser cut cardboard on thick stock. Done well but, was hoping it was already assembled or one piece molded plastic. Train was detailed well. Assembly was pretty smooth. Tiny track connections were a little difficult but patience prevailed. Good set. Seemed a little expensive but not horrible for a train set these days.

Lifelong train fan; I have lots of G scale trains that appear at Christmastime. This set goes to the other extreme—Z scale! I added one car to this set, to make the train a little longer. Noticed that the table I put it on wasn’t quite level—the engine would slow down and sometimes stall when traveling “uphill”—so I had to crawl under the table to add shims to raise, in this case, the two table legs that were against the wall. Much better after that. A fun little train set—and I mean LITTLE!

A great tiny train set. Works fantastic

This train is so small but works great. I didn't know it came with a power pack & some track-even a little ice skate rink and some out buildings. Not know it came with track I bought some of the track that has a base on it already and works nicer anyway. It looks great going around the xmas tree.

Marklin has been making these Z gauge train sets for a long time. But it seems they have slipped in quality control lately. My set came with a dead power adapter. I have other Z gauge trains so I had a spare one to use with this set. But what a disappointment this would have been to give as a gift on Xmas morning and it wouldn't run due to a faulty power supply. I had to dock off 2 stars for this. This is not acceptable given the amount of money these sets cost. Once the train was set up, and I hooked my own supply to it, it ran just fine. It does come with a railer tool which was a nice surprise. It makes it easier to put the cars on the track. Word to the wise, these kits require a bit of patience to set up. Take your time and all will go well. These tiny trains require a fair amount of maintenance. They need cleaning and oiling about every 20 hours of use or so. Also, Marklin is still using the wrong oil as the locomotives can gum up after some time passes. Use synthetic oil going forward.

Very nice train set. Márklín is always outstanding.
