Better than the snapon wheel weight tool
I recently got my own tire balancer after my friend was TIREd (heh) of letting me into the shop he works at so I could balance my wheels. So I used their fancy snapon and bluepoint tire weight tools, which are old but worked well enough... Well let me tell you, this Gearwrench weight removal/install tool works so much better I can hardly believe it. It grips the clip on weights perfectly and can take bites out of lead and zinc weights to make the correct weight you need. The nylon hammer face is gentle on rims. Gearwrench is the best!

Great tool for wheel weights
Takes wheel weights off like a breeze. It's nice that it has a replaceable head where the hammer is. Nice grip to hold on to and very sturdy tool. Great if you do tire balances alot.

Better than the old school tool.
This wheel weight tool is absolutely perfect... if you do one thing: take off that silly plastic cover from the hammer head. Just be careful to not miss and smack the wheels. That plastic is too soft to allow a good knock on the weights. Take it off, problem solved. Just make sure to aim good.

Can actually grip the smack on real weight and pull it off without ease with the design they have.
So I'm a tire technician and I've used these. At the last place I worked at and the new place. I went to go to had the cheaper ones and they sucked. This one is designed well has good weight to and has a nice design for the snack on tire weights to pull them off easy.

Not Perfect, But Still An Excellent Tool
While this is a great wheel weight hammer/removal tool, I can't say it's perfect as the tip of the tool that actually pulls weights off on my tool is just wide enough that it struggles to pull some wheel weights that have very small holes in their clips off which results in me reaching for one of the tools that is supplied by my shop. That said, unlike those tools, this one has a hard plastic cover on the hammer which transmits more striking force to the weight than the soft rubber used on the shop ones while still preventing marring/damage to the new weight or the rim and as long as the hole isn't too small in the weights clip, this tool has pulled off weights that the others simply refused to. Also, as other reviews on Amazon.com have noted, there are 2 version of this tool. The unit I received from my seller was the original KD Tools version whereas most sellers these days will send the GearWrench version. Functionally speaking, they are the same tool, the only difference between them is KD version has a red handle whereas the GearWrench version is nearly all black. Should it matter which version you get, no, this is an excellent wheel weight tool regardless of what version you receive for most clip-on weights and were it not for the fact it struggles with those stupidly small holed weights, I would gladly give it a perfect rating
