5 stars!!! Worth Buying NEW! This work book is designed for teachers to use in the classroom. each lesson is reproducible. if you buy it used make sure you get the CD- it has ALL the worksheets on it as a PDF! No cutting the book apart to print the pages off. this was a big win! LOVE IT!

my 6 grader son usually read adventure/ fantasy books. I wished he reads more of non fiction books, and bought this work book.it has lots of helpful articles and my son learns a lot from it. I am satisfied with purchasing this book.

Caution: some topics badly outdated
This book had some good essay topics and the questions were well designed. However, it was published over ten years ago. Some of the political essays were no longer relevant and we skipped them.

Great Book!
I really like this book for my son. Even though it's meant for Grade 6, I'm using it for my son who is in grade 8. The topics are very relevant for today's youth. I feel he is not only practicing his comprehension and critical thinking, he is also learning about topics that are important today. I'm actually enjoying the topics myself.
