ABUS 145/30 Non-TSA Combination Lock for Hard Cases, Luggage, Resettable

I’ve been using the ABUS 145/40 C Aluminum Resettable Lock for a few weeks now, and it’s been a great experience so far. This lock is ideal for quick, everyday security needs—especially when you’re on the move. I mainly use it at the gym, and it’s proven to be both convenient and reliable. Setup was fast and intuitive—resetting the combination took less than a minute, and the instructions were clear. Once set, the lock held the code securely without slipping or requiring any fiddling. I appreciate that there’s no key to lose, and the 4-digit combination offers decent security for a compact lock like this. The aluminum body feels durable yet lightweight, making it easy to toss into a gym bag or backpack without adding bulk. The dials turn smoothly but not too loosely, so you won’t accidentally change the code in your pocket or bag. So far, I haven’t encountered any issues with the mechanism or build quality. It gives me peace of mind for casual use—like locking up a locker, gym bag, or small storage box. If you’re looking for a compact, no-hassle lock for low to moderate security needs, this one hits the sweet spot between convenience and quality. I’d definitely recommend it.

Works great, easy to set, easy to use, and the color assures you will find your locker. Seems secure. High quality build, for an affordable price. Overall very happy with purchase.

Cons: Cannot be scrambled while unlocked. Easy to accidentally reset the combination. (Be careful! Don't turn the rotary wheels after unlocking it.) Very little force is needed to open the shackle when it is unlocked -- so it kind of opens itself (if under even slight tension) when the dials switch to the combination. Only 3 dials instead of 4. (Some may prefer 3 dials, it would be nice if 4 dials were an option with this small size shackle, AFAIK their 4-dial locks all have a larger shackle.) If you accidentally reset the combination, just brute-force the lock ;) Pros: Light but sturdy. Great size of shackle, can fit in even small zippers. Potentially resistant (I am no expert) to some of the usual ways thieves defeat the cable-style TSA locks.

This is a good lock, I forgot the combination and spent two hours fiddling with it to remember what the combination was. I got it open with a combination (ha, lock puns) of vaguely remembering at least two of the digits and some lock decoding tricks online. There is *very* few videos online of how to "decode" this lock which is a plus for anyone who is securing things against people who have *no* idea of any of the numbers. This lock apparently has "false gates" which basically means it tricks you to think you've found a good number when you haven't. There is no such thing as a perfect and unbeatable lock; but this one would require an amateur the free time to look up the *two* YouTube videos that exist (one in German one in English) and then fiddle with the lock for at least one or two hours before decoding it. This assuming they don't have something that can just cut through the steel of course. Definitely a good purchase to use for "semi casual" levels of security. I use it with my PacSafe security bag so it just has to protect against casual theft by housekeeping or someone who follows housekeeping into the room. In theory there won't be a thief who has access and all the tools out in the open but one never knows!

What a fantastic lock. These are German locks are solid, well-made, and are very easy to set. I've purchased 10 of them so far, and they have been utterly reliable. Some users complain about the dials being difficult to turn, but my experience has been the opposite. The dials turn easily, but crisply with a satisfying click for each number. Contrast these locks to some Master set-your-own four-wheelers that have very soft, spongy wheels, and there is no comparison. The colors are great, and the body of the lock is solid. I use these locks to secure my firearms and ammunition and the lock colors help me to maintain a couple lock sets (and, thus, different combinations). I have an expectation that these will last me a very long time, and so far, we're off to a very good start. Definitely five stars, and I'll be purchasing more soon.

Looks pretty solid. It's about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide. Very easy to set the combination. It locks once you move the dials out of combination. Great Lock on lockers or backpacks.

I use it frequently for the gym locker, then I leave it in my backpack with other stuff, and it is sturdy considering I carry items that can damage things that are not well built. I like not having to carry a key when I excercise. it works perfectly after more than a year.

Miscellany: The lock body color is black, though the image in the product description is grey. Why 1 star? A few minutes after receiving this lock, I no longer associate ABUS with quality locks. Unlike other ABUS locks made in Germany, this one is made in China (which was not revealed in the product description at the time of purchase) and to me the latch mechanism feels flimsy. (The "MADE IN CHINA" sticker on the internal packaging is actually covered by a sticker on the external packaging.) Aside from those issues, I could not close the lock after opening it for the first time, which means that the lock does not work. I would not recommend this lock to anyone. Processing return...

I've used the lock a few times and it's working great. I did a lot of research and this model was highly rated for being secure. It was also super easy to change the combination.

I purchased this lock to replace a much cheaper one that snapped on a locker. This lock is very sturdy and feels solid in your hand. The dials click while being rotated, so you know they are in the correct position. It is easy to program your own combination. Can’t think of any cons for this lock at all. Highly recommended!
