In this sexy, high-octane update of the popular show, Natalie (Diaz), Dylan (Barrymore) and Alex (Liu), alongside faithful lieutenant Bosley (Murray), must foil a revenge plot that could not only destroy individual privacy, but spell the end of Charlie and his Angels. Review: Charlie's Angels (2000) [4k-UHD] - Charlie's Angels is a 2000 action-comedy based on the 1970s TV series of the same name. It stars Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, Bill Murray, Sam Rockwell, Kelly Lynch, and Crispin Glover in the main roles. Tim Curry, Matt LeBlanc, Luke Wilson, Melissa McCarthy, Tom Green, LL Cool J, and Alex Trebek have smaller roles (or cameos). John Forsythe reprised his role from the TV series playing the voice of Charlie, while Barrymore, Liu, and Diaz played the Angels. Murray plays Bosley, who is the go-between the Angels and Charlie. The plot involves misdirection about who the true bad guys are, but the meat of the storyline is that someone is trying to track down Charlie as a part of a revenge scheme, using the Angels and Bosley as unwitting pawns in the plan. The 4k set is a two-disc set containing a UHD disc and a regular blu-ray disc. The A/V quality of the UHD disc is outstanding and is a massive upgrade over the DVD release and a decent upgrade over the 1080p release. Most of the extras are on the regular blu-ray, but the UHD disc has the teaser and theatrical trailers for the movie and a sneak peek at the 2019 reboot/quasi-sequel written and directed by Elizabeth Banks. The extras on the regular blu-ray were carried over from the prior physical media releases and include a commentary track by director McG and cinematographer Russell Carpenter, several behind-the-scenes featurettes featuring cast interviews, a blooper reel (which are the same bloopers shown in the end credits), deleted scenes, and two music videos. The movie is a bit dated, but it holds up pretty well even after 25 years (as of this writing). It has a good blend of action and humor, and Barrymore, Diaz, and Liu were great in the lead roles. Ultimately, this combines a good action movie and a silly (and sometimes cheesy) comedy. If you can accept it for what it is and what it is not, it is worth watching. Review: Millennial fav!! - Great movie and my kids loved it!

Fun action comedy based on the original tv series
My wife laughed when I originally wanted to watch the newer reboot of Charlies angels released in 2023 only because she said she read and heard from other or was bad since I had never seen the tv series at all she convinced me to get this 2001 release Instead. It's a fun kind of over the top John Woo style action fighting with some funny moments of the 3 angels constantly changing costumes and using there feminine charm which works well for the film . It's a good movie that doesn't take it's self so seriously which is a good thing it knows what's it's aiming for and I was pleasently surprised so glad she convinced me just to buy it. I even just bought the sequel full throttle as well . All the positive reviews are correct . Fantatic picture quality in 4k and standard blu ray colors are vibrant , sharp image , good sound a must. Own for movie fans of Barrymore , Diaz , Liu

Go white girl! Go white girl!
I don't know how many reboots I've actually enjoyed, but it ain't many. I think Charlie's Angels (2000) may very well qualify as style over substance, but man oh man, is it a fun ride from start to finish. Love the opening, all done in one shot on a plane (or so it would seem), there's a great surprise, then it goes into an amusing montage of all the Angels' "adventures." I had forgotten how gratuitous these movies are with regard to the foxiness of the Angels. No shot of them bending over, showing cleavage, or spread eagle goes uncovered. Also, no leather outfit (there are several) goes un-gawked at. Cameron Diaz has more than one opportunity to shake her ass. McG certainly has the eye for the ladies. I suppose if this were anime, it'd be considered "fan service." This movie's also an endless cavalcade of stars. Gorgeously photographed. Full disclosure: I like ass-kicking chicks. Full Throttle was more of a cartoon, but I will guiltily admit I dug that one too (what, no 4k release, but Ghostbusters 2 got one?). I won't be seeing Charlie's Angels 2019, the reboot of the reboots. Let's face it, Kristen Stewart is terrible in whatever she appears in, and what, Bosley is now a chick? That is so 2010's. The preview on this 4k disc did not look fun at all.

Potentially disastrous flick turns into big-time fun!
I had about as much enthusiasm to seeing this movie when it came out as having a root canal. So I stayed away from it like the plague. But the reviews and word of mouth were good, so I made a point of "checking this one out" on DVD the other night. To say I was happily surprised is an understatement. If you're looking for mindless action, hilarious, unpretentious poking fun of the fashions and trends of the 1970s and 1980s, and a level of energy that leaves you breathless from scene to scene -- on top of watching a trio of babes vamping it up shamelessly with an obvious wink to some of us oldsters who remember the idiotic television series -- this film is definitely for you. The success of this film has everything to do with being funny, sexist and not giving the audience a nanosecond to take the whole ride seriously. No pseudo-intellectual pronouncements or babbling social messages here; no phony posturing as high concept art, the movie version of "Charlie's Angels" is more fun than the television series could ever be, loaded with wall to wall action and hilarious bits that can be seen repeatedly, not to mention a wonderfully diverse soundtrack that grabs all of the best bars of the greatest musical riffs from the 1970s through the 1990s. Yes, even though the film is rooted in the 1970s and 1980s, the instrumental passages are pure contemporary Matrix stuff, adding immeasurably to the enjoyment factor. If you're going to remake a joke, you might as well do it right. And "Charlie's Angels" turns a potentially disastrous and dated series into something that is no more or less than great popcorn entertainment. I love surprises and I don't mind being wrong when you go in with low expectations and come out finding "value." This is ultimately, when you step back, a little trifle of a film with a big, big budget and production values that would have been worth the $8.50 admission had I not judged it unfairly, purely on pre-conceived notions based on its ad campaign, its jiggle-enhanced cast and a television series and premise I never liked even when it was popular. If you have a degree in comparative literature, turn it around to face the wall. This film has no other goal than to entertain and make you laugh. And it does both very well. Action comedies are hard to debate and are an underrated genre, even when done well. They have never won Oscars, probably never will, but who really cares?
