Tattoo
This. Book. Is. Awesome. Seriously, Tattoo is now one of my all-time favorite books. I can honestly find nothing wrong with it, so I would totally give it six stars if I could. Here are some of the good things about this book...First of all, the characters. They are all very easy to relate to, from the dialogue to the traits to the reactions. There's Bailey, who is emotional and clumsy. Her crush on Kane, worries, and klutzy acts make her a hilarious character. Second is Delia, a fashionista to the core. She is kind, sweet, and confident, and is always optimistic, looking at the bright, positive side of things. Next is Annabelle. Though she's shy, as a reader you can still get a wonderful sense of her character: tentative, quiet, and incredibly smart. Finally, there's Zo, who is my personal favorite. She's a tomboy, but not. She projects herself as tough, athletic, anti-girly, and a fighter, yet there's a softer side to her that involves her lost mother and fierce loyalty to her friends. And that's not to mention how funny and protective Zo is. Love her! All of these characters and the humor involved with them make them incredible additions to the story. Jennifer Lynn Barnes makes these characters and more so true-to-life that as you read, you can almost feel like you are the characters. Second among my many compliments to this book is the plot. To me, suspense is one of the main elements you need in a story. Twists and turns, unexpected events, and basically an unpredictable story. Reading Tattoo left me turning page after page(well not really because I was on my Kindle but the meaning is the same) and eagerly reading chapter after chapter. As soon as I finished Tattoo, I immediately purchased the sequel, Fate, and dove into the new book. The segues into each part of the plot feel really natural, like you are there in the story as you are reading. All of the scenes are described in vivid detail, so again, you feel as if you are truly there as the events take place. Third, the theme of friendship is extremely heavy in this book, as well as its sequel. The universal message is implied heavily throughout the book, shown throughout the plot, and displayed by the dialogue. No matter what, Bailey, Delia, Annabelle, and Zo stick together through thick and thin(that might sound cheesy but it's true!) and remain loyal to each other throughout the entire story. Together they are an amazing group of friends. Fourth, the author is truly an amazing writer. Her style of writing is graceful, vivid, and more than anything, humorous. The graceful way Jennifer Lynn Barnes makes her sentences, paragraphs, and even chapters flow together astounds me. Her words are like puzzle pieces, fitted together into the perfect story. The novel itself may be a great story, but the way it is written completes the picture, like icing on the cake, so to speak. Also, the story is written in extremely vivid detail. The plot of the actual story takes place over four days: Friday at the mall, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, the finale, at the school dance. However, the plot sequence is described so vividly that the book's 200-300 page length is completely necessary. Then, no book is complete without humor. I honestly don't think there was a chapter in this book where I wasn't laughing out loud. It could have been Bailey the Klutz making a fool of herself in public yet AGAIN, Delia annoying her friends with her makeover attempts, Annabelle being underestimated and surprising everyone, Zo saying something HILARIOUS, or many more possibilities. Seriously, three words I would use to describe this book are funny, funnier, and funniest:D This book is basically a bundle of laughs. Fifth(I'm really going on here, huh), I love love love the mythological aspect of the book. The common, well-known Greek Gods and myths add fun, background information, and interest to Tattoo. Then the Celtic mythology adds an educational side to the book. I knew absolutely nothing about the Celts before I read this book, except that they were Irish and made me think of little men running around in green outfits. So their myths, tied into the book, taught me a lot. I liked how the Greek and Celtic myths overlapped, adding depth and interest to the novel. Finally, the conflict in this book is awesome. It seems odd that the four girls really only figure out all the details of what they are up against the morning they are supposed to stop it, but somehow the author makes it work. And the resolution just leaves the plot wide open for a sequel, so if you liked Tattoo, don't hesitate to read Fate. I really hope this review helps. If you are thinking about whether to read Tattoo, please read it! It is a really good book and even if you don't like it, its message and educational information on myths will benefit you, at least. Thank you for reading this, and I hope you enjoy Tattoo!

Do You Want A Tattoo??
My Thoughts: This book was a fun quick read. We start off by getting to know all the girls. I will admit I had a hard time following at first. Mainly because the girls seemed so much alike I had trouble keeping them straight. We don't get too much detail surrounding each girl so I had to remember who was who. Once the story unfolded though, it came together. The girls became individuals. They go and end up buying tattoos that are supposed to be "temporary" right before a big dance they are looking forward too. There is a guy involved of course but he wasn't in the story as much as I would have liked. Each girl gets a special gift from the tattoos. Without giving much more away, we learn the reason behind it and why they are so "special." I can't expand too much more without giving away the whole plot of the book. This story reminded me a lot of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. The dialogue. I think it would appeal more to teenage girls than older women. I like the whole premise of it, if only I could be special by putting on a temporary tattoo!!! Its a fun quick read. This is a new to me author, but I just found out she has another book coming out next year called, Raised By Wolves. Sounds interesting! Overall: Quick read, the story unfolds fast and try to keep the girls straight from the beginning! And which power they possess. Cover: The cover is eye catching but I think the cover of Fate is more appealing. Not a whole lot going on in this one, just a girl's back and where her tattoo is. (Reviewed by Princess Bookie)
