2006 Explorer by pass hose for thermostat
Quality and fit perfect. Replaced this bypass hose as a precaution while replacing my thermostat housing. Utilized new hose clamps as well. Figured I had it apart so why not. A bit tight quarters to work in, but a capable DIYer should have minimal issues installing. Best.

SHORTER than stock hose on 2004 Explorer 4.0L K-Flex
This is the correct product for this Explorer but Ford has changed the lower thermostat housing (RH258) which makes this replacement hose shorter. There was no issue clamping the hose on but the clamping position did change so the hose clamp is closer to the hose edge. Be aware that if you replace the stock lower housing with the RH258 lower housing (this housing now has a gasket (RG614), you will need a new temp sensor (DY1269) to keep the new housing from leaking at the sensor. Or change the impossible to find O-ring. Also, I would not follow spec of 9 ft-lbs torque - tighten the housing using your mind, not your muscle... (Eric O) UPDATE 7\1\21: OK, the impossible to find O-ring above can be substituted with a (have mercy on my soul) Harbor Freight Metric O-ring kit using the metric size 9.8x2.4mm. This is slightly larger than the stock O-ring which will seal the sensor in the new Motorcraft lower housing. I just changed my sensor O-ring with the HF and used a light coat of dielectric grease to lube ring before popping it in - worked like a charm right away - the struggle is real - good luck & I hope this helps!
