Power Failure Detector with Text Message and Email Alerts. Sends SMS Power Outage Alarms and Restoration Alerts to Two Phones.

Bought two of these to use on the Refrigerator & Freezer outlets due to breakers being tripped on those circuits and leaving the power off undetected. Now that these are installed (super-easy to set up), I get nearly instant notification (by email and text) that the power has gone off on those circuits, allowing me to reset the breaker quickly. PLUS, I also get notification when the power has been restored to those circuits. All of these notifications/alerts can be easily customized and configured in your online account (also very easy to set up). What's really ideal for me is having two of these installed on different circuits. If I only get notification of one being out, I'll know that the breaker was likely tripped and power is not out to the whole house (making troubleshooting a breeze). These units are going to provide me so much peace of mind when going out of town - no more worrying about undetected power outages that might impact the food in the fridge/freezer. One very important thing you need to know is that these units require constant connection to Wi-Fi in order to notify you of power outages. So, if you don't have your modem and/or router plugged into a battery backup (UPS), these units can't notify you of power failure if power to the entire house goes out. However, you don't need to have a crazy-expensive UPS for your modem and/or router because these detectors need less than a minute of Wi-Fi after the power is out to send the notification. Just get a small $40-50 UPS and then plug ONLY your modem and/or router into this UPS. This will give you 5-10 minutes of internet and Wi-Fi after power failure - plenty of time. If the power is off longer than your UPS unit can supply power to the router and/or modem, it doesn't matter. The detector will automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi after power has been restored and then the detector will notify you the power has been restored. If you want to know of power failures to ANY circuit in your house, these are a very affordable and reliable option (with NO subscription fees - just one-time purchase cost).

I've had this MySpool Power Failure Detector connected for 3 1/2 years now and it's been flawless. Has provided great peace of mind while away from a subarctic home. Number one best thing about it is NO subscription! I am so sick of getting nickled and dimed in this new subscription age, so this product and service is a breath of fresh air. I recall it was easy to set up. If you're using it to detect utility power outages, as I am, make sure you have a UPS for your router/modem/ONT/Satellite - whatever connects your local network to the internet, so the device can send out it's warning. I saw a one star review from someone who couldn't quite grasp this simple concept, lol.

Great product! Easy to set up. Consistently sends a text and email with ability to add numbers and/or emails depending on your preference. You can also rename the device and notification titles. This is extremely helpful when out of town to protect your food especially for deep freezers that are usually tied into sensitive GFCI outlets in the garage.

I bought this monitor to determine the duty cycle of a water pump that is controlled by a pressure switch from the pressure tank it feeds to. That is, instead of using it to know when the power is out, I wanted to know when the pump was ON and OFF, to see how much time in total it was ON during the day. Instructions are simple and straightforward, but the implementation of the configuration screen is rather poor. I tried to set it up from my phone, but the wifi connection continually droped. I then tried from my laptop and finally could access the configuration screen, but it was really bad and not responding properly. I had to use the "No Scan" option to configure the wifi. There was no feedback from this step, but when I created my online account at myspool dot com, my device appeared there, so all was good. In order to get email notifications, you need to authorize a request you receive from AWS Notifications or something like that, or else, you will NOT get any email notification on Power ON and OFF. After all this was set and done, my device has been working with no problems, and now I have some nice charts in Excel that show the duty cycle of the pump.

I have an outdoor freezer, and recently went out of town. When I came back, we pulled out some meat to grill, and it was almost defrosted. It turns out, my GFCI had tripped while I was gone. I needed an alert when this happens, as it isn't the first time the GFCI has tripped. I ordered this, and when it arrived, I was up and running within 10 minutes. Setup was a breeze, and I ran a test before I moved it outside to the outlet I needed to monitor. Alerts, both e-mail and SMS, arrived within 30 seconds or so of unplugging it. So, I moved it outside (on a covered patio), and plugged it in to the outlet to be monitored. But, no green light! The GFCI had tripped again within the last 24 hours or so. Great test, so I reset the GFCI, came into the house, and the power ON alert arrived as I closed the door. The best thing is that no app is needed for this. Once you use its own WiFi AP to configure it, all other business happens via the MySpool account on the web and your WiFi network. This is a great implementation of this kind of thing. Another bonus is the manufacturer appears to be US-based, so no poorly-translated setup instructions - they were very clear, both with the included (small) pamphlet, and on the website. Because it relies on your WiFi, it won't help with general power failures unless you use an UPS for your network, but for things like unplugged cords and GFCI or breaker trips, this is perfect. Now, to figure out why the GFCI keeps tripping offline...

Our electrical power is not dependable. I installed their power monitor for our refrigerator and have tested it numerous times. It consistently notifies me when the power goes out and when it turns back on. I needed dependability and I got it. Highly recommend it.

This device is supposed to be pretty simple to set up. At least according to the instructions. However, I have found that it is quite the opposite and I'm a very technical person. I followed the instructions and was getting Power On notifications but not Power Off. This must be a common problem because they have an FAQ about it. They suggest that the batteries may have come loose during shipment. That was not the case with my device. I pried the top off, which was difficult so be careful not to break the lid. I did reseat all batteries, and it now appears to be working. Some suggested upgrades would be 1) an audio alarm so you can hear if the power is off, and you don't have a phone/email nearby and 2) a mounting option for the Wi-Fi box. I will use double sided tape, but it would have been nice if there was a bracket included in the box. Also, there is no phone app, setting up has to be done via the MySpool web site. Not the end of the world, but an app would be nice to have. While setup was somewhat easy it's not the best user interface and it can be confusing as to what needs to be added and where. One thing that was annoying was setting the Time Zone. The format in which the time zones are presented is very confusing and hard to find that specific US, east, central, mountain or west time zone. Last but not least you can only send text to a single phone, or I should say, you can only enter one phone number. For other numbers you have to use the SMS via email option if your cellular carrier supports that.

Worked as described. Would buy again. I have two one for freezer and one for heat line. Please note I needed to disconnect from vpn to complete setup.

Does what it is intended for, but you need a USA phone number for the sms (you can get one that is web based for free)
