I purchased this product not realizing that I would have to physically drill holes through the metal in the door of my vehicle to install them. Since it was a lease, I decided not to go forward w the installation. I called and, after several attempts, was told to return it to an address in Southern California. That was about a year ago. I was notified today that the return was closed. I never had any money returned. Don’t trust them. I just had $500 robbed from me.

Good product, bad name
The good news is that this is a well made product. The bad news is that, by itself, it does nothing to prevent your door from being slammed. What Slam Stop does is pull the door shut for about the last 1/2" of travel. If you slam the door, it does nothing to prevent the slam. In fact, if you slam the door it effectively does nothing at all since the door is already fully latched. However, it does allow the door to be shut more gently - to the first "click" of the door latch - where it will secure the door from there. To truly make it a "slam stop", I added a small, adjustable rate shock absorber. The shock absorber has 1/2" of travel, so I adjusted the shock to absorb the energy of the door closing to just allow the first "click" of the door latch. Slam Stop takes over from there. The electric motor is reasonably powerful and will overcome the resistance of the shock absorber. This is not an installation for a novice. I am building a car from scratch, so I have incorporated the original design as well as the modifications into the custom door. You need to be very capable at building things to make this work. The instructions are notional at best, and trimming the actuation cable assembly to fit is challenging. (For details on the various components, I recommend downloading the installation instructions.) An extra set is provided in case you screw-up, but a person could easily go through both sets and still not get it right. Then you would be left trying to buy another set (no indication how to do that in the instructions). I would question the value of installing Slam Stop without the additional shock absorber. For the cost, and the considerable time and effort for installation, you are still vulnerable to someone slamming your door. But if you add the small shock absorber, it truly does prevent the door from slamming.
