Sturdy and easy to transform
My son received four Playskool Heroes Rescue Bots for Christmas and Medix is my favorite. This bot is very well made. It's sturdy and fits nicely in little hands. My 4-yr-old can easily transform it and click it into place. The siren ("belly button") is a release button that initiates the transformation from vehicle to bot. I like this because it is an almost foolproof transforming aid, although I did have to read the enclosed instructions to initially figure out that there was a release button. There is an order to the transformation, so it is possible to end up with his legs sticking out if you don't push the front and back together before the arms, but it is easy to figure out with about two tries. Transformation from bot to vehicle: 1) close legs, 2) push back and front together 3) close arms Transformation from vehicle to bot: 1) push button and let go (the spring mechanism opens him up automatically) Size of vehicle: 5 inches long, 3 inches wide, 2.5 inches high Size of bot: 6 inches tall, 6 inches wide, 2.5 inches front to back This is a great toy for preschoolers, but probably too basic for older children. My son also received the corresponding "higher end" Playskool Chase and Bumblebee Rescue Bots, both of which work equally well. Playskool also makes a slightly cheaper version of Bumblebee that was a pain to transform. I would avoid that one (the lower quality one has no blue pieces, for reference).

and where once I could very easily find Optimus Prime
I'm writing this for multiple reasons, the first of which is to address some peoples complaints about the price. I hope I either save someone some effort/heartache or explain why some of these Rescue Bots are as pricey as they are. This run, the basic model of Rescue Bots, is no longer on store shelves. The new "Rescue Bots Energize!" is replacing them. I noticed this problem about a month ago, as I was trying to complete my sons set (More on that soon), and where once I could very easily find Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and even the more rare Hoist in our local Walmart, this is no longer the case. During the holiday season, I traveled from Northeastern Kansas, to southern Illinois, into Kentucky and Indiana, and I stopped at many stores that previously would've carried these toys hoping to come across one at "Retail" price. That being said, the "Product Dimensions" are misleading, as it includes packaging. The toy itself is about 6 inches high. On to the toy, and toy line itself. My son turned 3 on January 9th, and currently has a complete set of these transformers (except Bumblebee and Optimus Prime, those two he has the Energize! version, a problem for me but not for him, I'll fix that soon enough though!) He plays with them daily, sometimes for an hour or more in one sitting. He can easily transform all of them with the exception of Medix, but I'm sure he'll get that one soon enough. They are durable, colorful, enhance motor skills, and many of them come with a DVD of the show, which is also excellent. Most of all, they're FUN. My 9 year old daughter loves to play with them, though sometimes this leads to fights, especially if it's one of his favorites ("Awesomus Prime) The toy is a bit smaller then I was expecting however, only downside.

Most well made Rescue Bot! :)
My 4 yo nephew is obsessed with the Rescue Bots. We have several of them (by the holidays, we will likely have all of the rescan ones). A few of the other rescan rescue bots have broken easily/been difficult to "transform" or had to be replaced. This Medix one is, by far, the most well made one we've gotten so far. The plastic is more durable and it's manufactured far superior. Unlike the other rescue bots we've gotten, this one came in a well packed brown box by Tomy. There was no description of what was inside or any photos. (Unlike what's said in the description). Other ones have arrived in cardboard backed packages with plastic covers. I wish all of them were as well made as this one---they're even the same price! I've taken some photos to show the difference in size and you can tell the plastic is more sturdy. If you have a rescue bot fan, this will blow them away! If you've found this review to be helpful, please click yes below. Contact me if you have any other questions!

Durable. Great toy for 4 yr old!
My son has been asking for a transforming robot toy for a while. I've been trying to find one that he could transform himself with minimal frustration -- so, easy to manipulate, and durable. I had bought him a cheap little Bumblebee that broke every time we tried to transform it, and this led to many tears of frustration. In contrast, this Medix bot has been a huge hit. Once he figured out that he needs to push the legs in first when making it an ambulance it's been smooth sailing. He even sleeps with it. I appreciate all of the reviews telling me that this thing was durable and easy to use. I echo this!

so it's fun to have him a part of any collection to ...
My 3.5 year old's rescue bot collection is nearly complete... partially due to my own interest in playing along with them. In my son's eyes he likes them all... the newest one he likes most. Here is a list of the order of my favorites and why: 1. Blades - blades is the only one that has a moving object (propeller) and also is the only non-ground bot, so it's fun to have him a part of any collection to change things up. He's also very easy to transform and his transformation looks good. 2. Heatwave - this was the first one we bought and was a great one to start off with. The way the ladder pulls up to transform is very creative and cool. fire engines are cool and a must for rescuing, so Blades and Heatwave together are really all that's needed to make the perfect rescue. His transformability can be difficult for a young one because the arms don't always want to stay down without holding them both down at once. 3. Hoist - when heatwave pops a tire or gets stuck it's nice to have hoist around to pull him out of trouble. Hoist also looks pretty bad-ass and bulky as a robot. His tranformability is similar to Heatwave. 4. Medic - medic is the only one that has a button that activates the transformation. I think as a robot he looks pretty silly, but he's useful to have when someone gets hurt 5. Chase - not always able to incorporate him in our playing. My son really wanted him, but after getting him he didn't get a whole lot of time with him like he did with the others. 6. Boulder - super easy to transform, which makes it kind of boring but good for a 2 year old. He doesn't really help out much except for pushing things off our coffee table that I keep telling my son to leave alone. * Dinobot - my son just got the Heatwave dinobot for xmas. It doesn't transform, but my son loves it. It makes noise, which is pretty darn annoying, but it sure entertains him. I didn't think it would be as fun due to not transforming, but it's fun to use as an accessory to our missions. All in all, every one of these are made very well, will last through lots of toddler abuse, fun to take in the bath, and are entertaining.

Hermoso!
Muy buena calidad

Sturdy, great for younger transformer fans.
This was a perfect gift for a young fan of transformers. It is super sturdy and transforms from ambulance to robot at the touch of a button. Some transformers I purchased that require more steps have turned out to be unexpectedly fragile... their arms or legs snap off (and back on) but frustrating for little kids, as well as myself. This is a nice, sturdy choice.

Hero Transformer small scale
This is perfect for my 5 year old grandson. He loves transformers and is small enough to take places with him as well as entraining in the car. Well built, sturdy, and easy to carry around. He loves it! Won’t disappoint!!

Bonito y fácil de convertir
Bonito y resistente, como todos los Rescue Bots de esta colección. Muy fácil de convertir a modo robot, no tanto para hacerlo en modo vehicular, pero con un poco de práctica se logra.
