I never even committed most of what the booklet said to memory but was able to accurately read people's situations. There are many different ways to read Tarot and if yours relies heavily on understanding the original imagery of the cards then you will probably struggle with this deck. Over the years of reading Tarot, I have found that a card could be understood to have a negative meaning in one reading but have a positive meaning in another reading (or both polarities in a single reading). It is all in what the message is based on your interpretation of the imagery. The cards are just tools for interpretation of communication like how we use language to communicate. If the language of the cards is not a good fit for you then it will not work out regardless of how much information you have on what the imagery means. All that said, this deck has beautiful artwork and based on my experience, is ideal for reading regarding situations of spiritual nature. Whenever I read for folks who had spiritual or spirit/ghost related issues, these cards were on point, more so than other decks I had at the time. I do not recommend this deck for beginners but it is a good one to add to your collection.

Easy to read with
I love this deck. Though somehow I keep misplacing it. This is my third time purchasing this deck. I love the art and how easy they are to shuffle and read.

Spooky Fun FOr the Whole Year
Really, I would give this deck 4 1/2 stars, were that an option. I love October, I love Halloween, I love all things, spooky, and Ghosts & Spirits Tarot, by Lisa Hunt, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc, has fit right into my Samhain mood this week. Usually, I do three card Daily Draws, but for me, right now, this deck has worked better as a single draw kind of deck. To compensate for that, I have been doing morning and evening draws, which you can see here, for more card images, if you are so inclined. The fact that I am doing single card draws as opposed to full readings is not a fault of the deck, but a fault of my own. Lisa puts a lot of research into her decks, and the images are absolutely chock full of meanings, which sends me scrambling for Google or my own library of books concerning myths, ghosts, and fairy tales. I actually love doing this, but it means making her decks reading decks, for me, is a long process. Her Fairy Tale Tarot has become one of my favorite decks for my personal readings, but it took me some time to get there with the deck. This is actually a bonus is my book, and I appreciate decks that I can connect to so deeply, that have me learning and doing research, but I do think unless you are a purely intuitive reader or are willing to do the work thee gorgeous decks may require, you may feel you are not getting as deep with the deck as you would like. I am not crazy about the backs of the cards, but they are not my main concern when using a deck. They are somewhat more cute than the rest of the deck. The cards were printed in Italy, on card stock that is lightly laminated and slightly shiny. This should make the cards very durable but they are pleasant to hold and shuffle. The cards are what I consider a "standard" tarot size, about 2.75 inches by 4.5 inches, and the borders are a yellowed ivory, meant to mimic aging parchment, I believe. I am a famous border remover, but these ones do not bother me at all, and in fact I think they are lovely. The deck comes in a tuck box with a Little White Book written by Lisa Hunt, where she explains succinctly the stories her cards are depicting and how they relate to tarot. I feel she has done a great job with this in the small space allowed, but I feel this deck, and Lisa, deserved a full sized companion book to really go into detailed explanation of her choices and the stories. There are 78 cards in this deck, 22 Major Arcana, with Trump V being renamed from The Hierophant to The High Priest, and Trump XV being called Chains, as Lisa has done in her previous decks, rather than The Devil. You'll find Strength at Trump VIII, and Justice at Trump XI. The suits are Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. In Lisa's previous decks, she has used the neo-pagan correlation of Wands to Air and Swords to Fire, where different tarot traditions have Wands as Fire and Swords as Air, but I see no evidence in either the cards or the Little White Book that she went that direction in this deck. I personally am not bothered by elemental switches, as I just read what I see in any card, but for readers who use elemental dignities or just really care, it can matter. There are 56 fully illustrated pip cards, including Court Cards named Pages, Knights, Queens, and Kings. Lisa also included a bonus card for which she says is to be used for questions that require deeper contemplation. I did not draw this card this week, and I don't think I can remember a time I have drawn a card that does not usually come in a deck. My personal theory is that I don't really know what to do with these cards, so they don't come up for me, but I do like having another beautiful image over a promotional card, since publishers tend to put 80 cards in each package, simply because of the math of printing. Card sheets come in 80 images, not 78. Some of the cards are really saturated in color, such as my favorite card in the deck, the Ten of Cups, while some are more delicately colored. All the images are ethereal and quite detailed. They tend to follow Waite Smith meanings, but Lisa has her own slant on the cards, so you should be prepared to stretch your mind and learn some new meanings. The very theme of the cards, Ghosts & Spirits, does tend to make the readings a bit more focused on the shadow aspects of the meanings, for me, but that is a perfectly viable kind of reading to do, and is even necessary for me. If I could only have one deck in my collection, this one would not be it, because I would be looking for something a bit more well rounded, but I find the art sumptuous and I am happy I can have many decks for many types of readings! Another thing I use tarot cards for are writing prompt and help with "what happens next" and this deck has excelled at that, for me. There is no gratuitous nudity in these cards, and any violence is only alluded to. I feel that intuitive readers that connect to the art will really love this deck, and there are lots of symbols to draw meaning from. I feel people who enjoy ghost stories and myths will find many relatable themes in this deck. People like me who love to do research and really dig deep into decks will find hours of entertainment here. I hope this has been a helpful review, and I enjoyed writing it as much as I enjoyed using the deck this week. Lisa Hunt is a talented artist with a real love of tarot and connection to the other side.

Ghosts & Spirits Tarot - Beautiful and Useful
I received my Ghosts & Spirits Tarot deck today and immediately upon opening there is a sense that this deck is different from others. At one time I believed that one deck is all you need, however, I now believe the art of a particular deck can greatly aid in a reading by connecting to the topic being meditated upon or the person being read for. The cards painted in watercolor by Lisa Hunt do nothing but elevate the experience of reading them by adding a rich and complex landscape upon which to query. While I find most tarot iconography somewhat dark the subject of each card is handled in such a way that you can almost feel a particular lightness or spirit to them. The color scheme on all the cards relate to each other well with a few cards containing elements I'm sure are designed to pop and call your attention in a spread. The booklet that comes with the deck is much more than the usual "bullet point" descriptions of the cards. It goes into more depth which is much appreciated for a novice such as me. Each card has an explanation and a single divinatory meaning. I think this deck will become a fast favorite because the art will lend itself to deeper reflection if the user is inclined to do so. I also think this will be a "go to" deck for special readings that require something different. All in all I feel this is a high quality useful deck.

An encyclopedia of spirits at your finger tips
Ghosts & Spirits Tarot is the second Tarot deck that Lisa Hunt releases through U. S. Games Systems, the first one being Fantastical Creatures Tarot . Like its predecessors, this deck is also a fantasy themed tarot, this one focusing on ghost and spirits from folklore and literature around the world. As such, it can easily be considered a portable illustrated encyclopedia of ghost and spirits. I hate to admit, but I came to find out about this deck after it was released in Amazon. I trusted that it was a deck from Lisa Hunt, so I ordered it. If you are a beginner, this is not an ideal deck to start with. However, Lisa Hunt's fans won't be disappointed on this iteration, however spookier it may be. The cards border is ivory marbleized, but the imagery takes most of the card, with some space left at the bottom for the name of the card. The back is almost reversible, showing three white ghost coming of the center on a blue background. The Major Arcana are numbered 0 to 21, and these are labeled following the Rider-Waite-Smith convention with one exception. The Devil is renamed Chains, very appropriate for the imagery presented on the card. It was difficult for me to guess the ghosts or spirits presented on the Major Arcana with few exceptions. Justice (11 on this deck) shows a white-pale woman dressed up on a white kimono with patterns of snow flakes all over holding spheres on both hands. This is the image used on the front of the box. "Yuki Onna" I thought quickly which translate to Snow Woman. In the Little White Book this card is identified as Snow Ghost, close enough. Finally, watching anime paid off. The other chard that I recognized was Death. Well, I thought "Death is Death". The LWB identifies this card as Grim Ripper, who is shown standing with its long black cloak and scythe at hand, unlike the RWS image. The Minor Arcana are divided in the four standard suits: wands, swords, cups, and pentacles. The On the pips, the imagery subtly incorporates the suit symbols. On the Minor Arcana, the ghost that I quickly identified was the Headless Horseman (King of Swords), but I think that almost no one would miss that one. And the Black Dog (Page of Swords). There were a few other cards I should have recognized right away, but it works like pareidolia. Once you know the name of the character in the card, you will immediately recognize the scene. In all honesty, I spent a good hour (or three) perusing these cards and shifting from card to LWB. Actually, I had a lot of fun! This is a deck I will never get bored of. The only disappointing thing about this deck is that it doesn't come in a kit with a full sized guidebook. However, The LWB is really good. You get to know a bit of insight about Lisa Hunt interests on ghosts, a brief description and divinatory meaning for each card, and a five card layout called "Realm of the Spirits". Any way, unless you are a beginner, you shouldn't pass this deck. Excellent deck with varied cards that really resonate
I purchased this deck because I thought she did another deck that I loved. Turns out I was wrong, and it was an excellent mistake. This is the first deck since the Mystic Faerie Tarot (that I thought she did) that I've really resonated with. I explored each card individually before doing a reading and really enjoyed the vast array of different cultures incorporated. My initial instinct to get this deck was due to the box art - I knew immediately it was the yuki-onna from Japanese folklore, and she is a spirit that I really like. I would say that the symbolism incorporated in it is a little dense and requires a bit more effort than other decks, but it's worth the extra work, because both readings I've done so far have been spot on. The art is lovely, and I'm really impressed with it. It is a very dark deck, though, and I don't recommend it for people who are all about pretty, light decks with whimsical illustrations.

An Amazing Deck
I truly had a skeptical feeling when i saw the word ghost on the amazon site but after reviewing the deck and reading more about it i thought what the heck. I bought it and it came, as i unwrapped the package i felt an instant feeling of connection and spiritual energy with the cards. I can truly say that after handling and working with the deck it is very accurate and easy to work with. The cards themselves are truly beautiful and as i am sure others out there will also explain the spiritual energy of the cards is very powerful. I have begun to work with the cards daily in my meditation and for readings and they are truly now a part of my every day ritual . I think you will profoundly proud to own this deck Crowdancer

BEAUTFUL AND ETHEREAL!
Despite their title, this is a very beautiful deck indeed! Anyone who seeks a difference from their ordinary deck - or simply prefers beauty in `dark' imagery, then this is the deck for you! Here, `dark' definitely appears more attractive! These cards are truly very beautiful, and they're quite easy to read too! Lisa Hunt has included long descriptions of each card, but her meanings and interpretations are very brief and to the point. You might find these more interesting to read for yourself as I do, but there's enough there in the little booklet I guess for those who are not able to. The artwork is extremely delicate and has an `ethereal' quality to them with the use of faint and delicate colours which is deliberate due to the deck's theme of course. The quality of the actual cards is extremely good too. There's also a free `special' bonus card included in each pack which is a nice touch. Highly recommended!

Useful for diagnosing hauntings, creating ghost stories or just as addition to your collection.
Lovely deck, beautifully illustrated with attention to detail and palette. A «must» for paranormal buffs and horror fans. As you browse this deck and read the associated folklore, you'll find several «ghost» archetypes recurring....the jilted lover, the justice-seeking ghost, the hungry ghost, the angry nature spirit, etc. I wouldn't use this for a general reading for a client, but rather to attempt to «diagnose» paranormal phenomena. Try doing some readings for the local haunted spots in your area....it's alot of fun!

Petite merveille
