How wide is the shelf bit?

The shelf is 19 or 7.5 inches across.

Will a solar powered pump be powerful to work with this waterfall

Simple answer yes. However the pump needs to be big enough to push sufficient volume of water for it to be visually effective.

Should this product have a lid ?

This item does not come with a lid. However, depending on the filter medium you intend to use and the flow rate of the pump input, you may have to put a small weight on the top to hold the medium down .

They all seem to be 19cm wide, are there any wider ones?
