Vic Firth American Classic 7AN - Nylon Tip

As a drummer who has played multiple styles of music in multiple gigs, I always find myself coming back to these 7ANs simply because of their weight balance, nimble and thin (yet somehow very strong) build, and obviously the nylon tips which give the 7ANs a much more distinct and instant sound unlike the wood tips. These are a great stick in almost any style of music and are a great set to start out on if your just learning the drums. Highly recommended by me! Also, I'll post all the broken ones I have lying around my studio with this review so you know I'm not kidding!

This stick has been my preference for many years. The Vic Firth name means a trusted quality product.

I started on acoustic drums and used a fairly long and heavy stick. I converted to digital drums and was concerned I was using too much stick and needed to go smaller. I used a hybrid setup, digital drums and real cymbals and I wanted tips for that reason. I settled on VF7AN's. After some adjustment I was very pleased. Then years later I decided to get another acoustic set. I thought the sticks would be too short or too weak to take the pounding. These sticks last so long you'll literally make sawdust on your HH before you work them through. The perfect stick both for digital and acoustic. As a side note, if you're having grip issues get some Sex Wax. Not only can I play with a much relaxed grip, the wax has a moisturizing effect. Between VF7AN's and Sex Wax my stick choice and grip are set for life.

I wasn't sure I was going to like these as much as I do! The 7AN nylon tip are lighter than I was expecting and about 3/4 inch shorter than I'm used to. I play a hybrid kit with mesh heads, Roland module and Roland cymbals. These are really fun to play with on this kit and are very well balanced and responsive. I love the length and how light and nimble they feel on the mesh and cymbals. I usually use the Zildjian 5A dip sticks for the better grip but with a little lotion, I didn't find these slippery at all. I've played professionally for over 50 years and at this point, I prefer sticks that are a little lighter and slimmer. I'm no longer a heavy hitter and with my current drums , these are less fatiguing and more responsive.

Great lightweight sticks for electric set. The nylon wont leave white marks on black cymbal pads like some wooden tips. However, when I first got them the seems were sharp and I needed to lightly sand paper them smooth is the only complaint.

I am not a drummer. I am a professional sound engineer. I work with a LOT of drummers. I also have a son who is a drummer. Drummers simply shred sticks. I've seen lower priced sticks splinter, crack and shatter within an hour of drumming...or less. The 7AN sticks hold up noticeably longer than budget sticks. We've tried sticks that cost more but they did not last any longer. After good wood and tip selection the rest is up to personal style and taste. Just saying...the wood is good!

Live nylon tips over wood. Thy hold up better. Wood has nicks and chips that dent the heads. These are great. I’ll keep buying them.

I just started using smaller sticks. i'm use to a 5. I like the smaller ones better. I still use the 5's for finger strength.

A livello costruttivo sono ben fatte e sono in legno con punte in Nylon, che non rovinano e ai quali possono essere inseriti i gommini sempre della stessa marca in gomma per poter esercitarsi in casa senza pad e batteria, utilizzando i gommini sulle bacchette sui libri, mobili avendo il sound e ritmo diverso, questo finche non si acquista una batteria, ma evita con i gommini di acquistare il pad per esercitarsi
