MokerLink 4 Port PoE Switch with 2 Uplink Ethernet Port
IP CCTV cameras are almost a must have for your home these days, but can be a bit of a pain to power, as there will almost certainly be no power sockets near to where you need to power the camera. A PoE switch can help solve this problem, as you simply need to run a single Ethernet cable between the switch and each camera, with the camera taking it’s power directly from the switch. The Mokerlink 4 port switch is perfect for a small camera setup, with it’s 4 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet ports (which are more than fast enough for a regular HD camera stream) and it’s 2 x 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Uplink ports. Having dedicated uplink ports, means you do not lose any available Ethernet ports when connecting to your existing network or directly to you Network Video Recorder. The switch has a nice sturdy metal construction with all 6 Ethernet ports on the front, along with the status indicator lights that let you quickly see that there is a connection and whether the connection is using PoE power. At the far right corner of the front panel is a switch to extend the transmission range of the connected devices from 100 meters to 250 meters, although this will limit the transmission speed down to 10 Mbps. The rear of the unit is where the mains adapter is plugged in and also features a grounding point, so that the unit can be grounded inside your cabinet (if that is where you are placing it). Either side of the switch are mounting points for the hanging brackets which can be screwed into place and the bracket can be mounted either vertically or horizontally. Each port can output up to 30 Watts, but the total for all ports must not exceed 78Watts and the dimensions of the switch are approximately 20cm x 12cm x 4.5cm. ***** In The Box ***** 1 x 4+2 Port PoE Switch 1 x Pair Mounting Brackets 1 x Mains Power Cord 4 x Mounting Screws 2 x Mounting nuts and bolts 1 x User Guide ***** Installation / Usage ***** The Mokerlink switch is not managed, so works in exactly the same way as other simple switches and requires no configuration on your part. You simply connect your devices to the PoE ports, run a cable from one of the uplink ports to a port on your existing network router, or directly to an NVR and power it on. Any connected PoE devices will power up and any non-PoE devices will just send/receive data via the network and will not receive any power from the switch. ***** Conclusion ***** Being able to power cameras using a single Ethernet cable is a huge advantage and makes installation far easier and tidier. I have my switch mounted in my attic so only needed to run a single Ethernet cable between my router and the switch and then a single Ethernet cable between the switch and the cameras. I am very pleased with the build quality of the metal construction and the included mounting brackets are handy as you can either mount it in a dedicated rack, or simply on a wall.

MokerLink 4 Port PoE Switch Review (Used for Poe cameras.)
A Poe switch is often an essential part of your CCTV set up in order to provide power to your cameras while routing the data to your router. The MokerLink 4 Port PoE Switch is self-managed so there is no additional setup needed, you just plug in and let it do its job. The build quality is very good, and I have not noticed it gets hot, although I am only using two Poe cameras. You get some rack ears if you need them rack-mounted. Instructions are minimal, and the power lead is rather short so I had to use a longer one. The MokerLink 4 Port PoE Switch is nice and small. I would recommend you always get a switch with more ports than you need. The 8 port version is double the price of the 4 port. This means you could add another 4 ports as and when needed while you would use up one of the ports in doing so. A far as Poe power output goes this provides 78w between all 4 ports. The average camera will not use much so this is more than enough. This Poe switch has 4 ports as inputs with Poe, plus 2 ports as data output to your router. You can plug in a device that does not require power which is automatically detected, for my set up I have 2 cameras plugged in which is Poe, plus my server PC. Each port has two led lights, one for data which is green, and one for when power is given shown as Orange. I have not used this long term yet but so far it's been good, is quiet as it has no fans, yet does not overheat while powering two cameras, in fact, it hardly gets past warm. It's built very well and I can see I will be using this for many years to come.
