What size snaps are these?

The parts that snap together and release, called socket and stud, measure 3/8 inch both the socket inside diameter and the stud outside diameter. That doesn't include the flanges, which seems to be what others may be measuring at more than 1/2 inch.

Mine are *not* 3/8" They are over 1/2"

How thick of leather will these go through? I need to go through 1/4" thick leather but ideally I'd like it to go through 3/8 thick leather.

I tried to use these for a 1/4" thick belt. They didn't work. The female part worked fine, but even with the backing with the longer stem, the male side requires a slightly longer stem. You could definitely connect something thin to a 1/4" leather piece, but not two 1/4" leather pieces.
