Anti-Theft Essentials Convertible Backpack/Tote

Great "Mom" Bag. While traveling abroad for almost 4 weeks this bag was my "go to" for the day trips. Front pocket: this got decorated with traveling pins was able to pierce the fabric easily without permenantly puncturing the fabric. This pocket held the itenary for the day, left interior pocket cell phone (Iphone 11) for easy access to take pictures, and right interior pocket held a backup battery with charging cord. Possible improvement would be for a two way zipper on front pocket for easier access but is good in current form. Main Pocket: Interior zip- held thin wallet and keys. Big Main compartment: 32oz Hydroflask, Small umbrella (for sun), thin zip-up (in case of chill/sunblock), Large bottle of Sunblock, and snacks. Great for securing/storing all things neccesary for the family for the entire day but not to large to feel like you are carrying a beach bag everywhere. Love the light colored interior this made it easy to find all the necessary things while on the go. I did not use the card slots as I carried a travel wallet. Straps: Love the length. The long adjustable was long enough to carry messenger style for both my husband and I, both of us are around 5'11" ~225lbs. I was able to easily shorten it for a tight to the body fit or keep it loose for ease of taking on/off. Short loops are great and was easily able to slip it onto my shoulder during crowded areas. Side water pocket: held our 24oz hydroflask easily or the 0.5 liter (non-insulated) that we got in Istanbul after our hydroflask was stolen. We learned to use a carabiner clip to connect the water bottle to the bag... Nothing else was taken from the bag. We tried to stay very aware of the people around us but traveling though the busy market/riding the buses in Athens is where it got lifted, but that is the only thing they were able to take as everything else was clipped shut. One downfall: the durability of the mesh fabric did not meet the long term wear test. This is the only part of the bag that has shown the constant use. Color: GREAT love the dark grey color did not show dirt/dust/stains. We went to lots of areas with a high amount of dust (the ancient ruins of Greece/Italy) and it did not show it at all. Overall: love the size and features and will continue to use it as a day bag.

I bought this for 2 reasons: 1) the suitcase strap on the back, so I don't have to carry it through the airport 2) the water bottle holder Both function as I need them too. My 16oz cylindrical tumbler fits perfectly with the pocket unzipped with the bag full. The interior is roomy enough to hold my laptop, a book, my liquids/bathroom bag, my glasses case, and a myriad of other small items (wallet, charging cords, ear buds, meds, etc). The cloth does have a bit of a diaper bag feel to it, but I am ok with that because it holds up to being knocked around and tossed under the seat of an airplane. My only real complaint is the zipper on the outside pocket. I don't like having to unzip the entire thing to access the inner pockets. Its a minor complaint, really and probably just more of a personal preference. Otherwise, this is a great item for traveling!

I love the convertibility of the bag from crossbody to backpack, but the tote straps are awful. I wish they were removable. They look silly when using as a crossbody bag or backpack. they also cause my hair to tangle when using as a backpack. I love the functionality of the bag and it is great quality, but I am not sure I will use it very much due to my dislike of the tote straps.

Very sturdy, and not showing wear after almost a year. I feel like my things are secure and difficult to pickpocket. Enough pockets to hold a few particular things but not so many that everything is always lost. A good amount of space for all the essentials without feeling like you’re hauling around a duffle bag. Looks classy enough for any situation I typically find myself in. Love the backpack option for days when that’s wanted. Will probably buy the same kind again when (if) this one ever gives up the ghost. Update: Still holding up perfectly after 2 1/2 years of daily handbag and travel handbag use. I’ve washed it several times in the washer and it comes out good as new. Just dry in front of a fan.

Spent about 3 hours reviewing anti theft backpack purses convertible to crossbody. Ordered 4, returned 3. This was the clear winner! Most choices had backpack straps too narrow and too insufficiently supported at the top to hang properly and to be comfortable. This one was the best design in that regard. Next, it is neither too big nor too “ugly”. It looks like a purse. Finally it has many comfort travel features: lock, RFID, HIDDEN WATER BOTTLE POCKET, strap to attach to luggage handle, etc. It also can be somewhat thin or expand to hold more items. This one has everything I wanted. The only change I would make would be to add a lock to the front outside pocket.

First and foremost, if you're considering this bag for the purpose of securing your things while traveling (whether abroad or just the next town over) you should know that the front zipper pocket does not have a locking zipper. It's fine if you're wearing it as a tote or shoulder/crossbody bag, because you can put that side against your body for added security. However, that pocket is wide open for thieves when wearing it as a backpack. It seems like a bit of an oversight on Travelon's part. That outside pocket is actually great storage space but, if you're concerned about theft, you'd likely only want to put cheap, easily replaceable things in it (chapstick, sunblock, etc.) If you plan to use this bag primarily as a backpack and want more secure features, you might be better off getting an actual backpack from Travelon. The main compartment does have the locking zipper, so it's not completely useless as an anti-theft bag when in the backpack configuration: just maybe not the top option, depending on your needs. My goal with this bag was to find something that could fit all of my things, plus a few extras for the kiddos, while we transition away from using a full-sized diaper bag. I do believe this will do the trick! Plenty of space in the main compartment (not a lot of organizational pockets, but I can deal) and there are two slip pockets in the outer zippered compartment which also has a very slight gusset to create a little more room. The convertible strap options will be helpful for long days, allowing me to change how I wear it depending on how many hands, hips, shoulders, or arms I have free and how heavy the bag feels. An added bonus is the water bottle pocket: I really like that it can be zipped "shut" when not in use, making the bag look more sleek and less like a bulky "I'm a mom and have to fit everything in my frumpy Mary Poppins purse" kind of bag. Finally, the bag looks good. I wanted something I could take everywhere and I think I found it. The only exception would be a black-tie event: this definitely wouldn't go with a full length gown. But it is suitable for just about any other scenario, be it professional, casual, travel related, or just every day errands.

This is a great everyday bag. I appreciate the safety features, and they also make the bag more durable.

Diese Tasche ist eine von mehreren Travelon-Taschen, die ich besitze, und ich mag, dass ich sie auch als Rucksack verwenden kann. Diese Versabilität ist der Hauptgrund, weshalb ich sie in den vergangenen 1 1/2 Jahren immer wieder verwende. Gekauft hatte ich sie für eine einwöchige Fortbildung, bei der sie täglich im Einsatz war. Mein DinA 4 Block passte akzeptabel hinein; da ich gerne auch noch einiges anderes im Hauptfach habe, geht das aber nicht anstandslos. Ein Getränk will ich stets dabei haben, wofür ich gerne die schnell erreichbare Außentasche nutze. Leider ist das Netz nicht stabil genug dafür gemacht. So war nach der ersten Woche das Netz bereits gerissen. Schade.

I bought this bag for my upcoming trip. It is just the right size for me. Large enough for all my things and versatile. It looks really nice as well and secure for safety.

Die Tasche ist schon die zweite, ich wollte unbedingt noch eine andere Farbe als schwarz haben. Die Tasche ist super wandelbar durch die Verwendung entweder als Handtasche, Crossbody oder Rucksack. Sie war schon auf mehreren Flugreisen im Einsatz und hat dabei überraschend viel Inhalt aufgenommen. Außerdem sieht man ihr die teils grobe Behandlung z.B. in Verkehrsmitteln etc. nicht an. Flecken lassen sich schnell mit ein bisschen Wasser entfernen. Neben der Wandelbarkeit war mir auch wichtig, dass ich mir keine Gedanken machen muss wegen Taschendieben, das erfüllt die Tasche auf jeden Fall. Der einzige Punkt, den ich lieber anders lösen würde, sind die "Schultergurte", wenn man den langen Gurt nutzt, um einen Rucksack aus der Tasche zu machen. Da der Gurt nicht gepolstert ist und zudem nur durch eine Schlaufe gezogen wird, ist er nicht sehr bequem auf Dauer. Zudem verrutscht der Gurt immer, wenn man die Tasche dann auf- bzw. absetzt. Aber wegen der anderen, für mich wichtigeren Features kann ich damit leben. Meistens trage ich die Tasche eh als normale Handtasche oder Crossbody. Auf einen Trolley lässt sie sich auch aufstecken, das ist am Flughafen sehr bequem.
