Works great and super simple.
This machine works very well, and is super easy. I work in Rehabilitation and I love this thing and I recommend it to my patients to use at home. I even have one at home. My son kept stealing it so I gave him mine and I bought another one. It only comes with one set of pads so you should buy more. Be careful to get the ones that work with this model. I bought some replacement pads about two months later and they were the wrong size. And of course it was too late to return them. You can use the pads over and over again, but after a while, they lose their sticky.

This device lasts for YEARS!!!! Excellent quality!
Purchased in 2017, left it sit for about 2 years and in fall of 2022 found that it still works perfectly, the pads adhere just like always. If you are looking for a quality TENS unit, stop looking this one is PERFECT in my opinion. I purchased this in 2017 and used it for about 2 years on and off for a lower back injury. It has always been very effective in reducing my pain. Fortunately, over the years I have been able to minimize my back pain and haven't had to use it at all in probably close to 2 years. However, I recently re-injured my back and was at a pain level of 7. I found the tens unit, and found that the batteries were still functioning. I pulled the pads off of the plastic storage pad and they adheared to my skin, just like they always had. The TENS unit worked perfectly and brought my pain level down to a 4 after one 30 minute session. I am sure it will continue to help mitigate this pain and get me back on the road to recovery.

works well
look, for the price, this does a great job. it is an older style device with no fancy screen in color, but i have had this same device for 10 years and it still works great. if i have one negative to this product it is the limited availability of pads. this pad is NOT universal to the other manufacturers pads. this had a much smaller snap tab which also makes the cord specific to this device and not interchangeable for other devices. the device also uses AA batteries and it not rechargeable with a type c cable so you could say this is a negative as well. i still have one of two of my older omron devices and lost one to leaking batteries after 10 years use so i just bought a replacement which is the same as the one from 10 years ago. i have also found it to be the easiest to use. all the manufacturers use a silicone type sticky backing for the pads. the pads are a good size but dont have other options for shape and size like other manufacturers. i have noticed that the pads loosen and can drop off when swetting so apply to clean dry skin. im not sure if the other styles hold any better under the same conditions. one warning.... do not lose or throw away the plastic figure 8 piece which is the holder for the pads between use. you cant just stick them face to face between use. all said, i would still recommend this device and gives comfort when muscles are sore and nerves need mild stimulation.

Great results for my Degenerative Disc Disease...but the cords...
Background & Context: I have degenerative disc disease and, more specifically, I have a black disc (totally dehydrated) L5 and arthritis in L3-L4. I'm also only 38 years old and, other than this, I am in awesome shape (6'1" 160lbs) and regularly worked out, yoga, etc... so this condition has been very challenging to me. Chronic pain is a horrible thing. I've been searching very hard for something other than pain meds to help with my back. I see a spine doctor and physical therapist who have been providing exercises and strengthening moves I can do to help, which they do, but my job has me sitting for long periods of time which seems to accelerate my back pain more than really anything else. I've had 6 epidurals (bilateral) over the past 1.5 year, I've tried burning the nerve in the facet joints (which did nothing for me), and, of course, NSAIDs and pain killers. The pain killers worked a bit but so does a shot of Tequila and neither are workable for daily life or sustainable. I remember my mom having a tens-unit when I was a kid and she had this similar genetic issue so I decided to pick one up and try. I turned to Amazon, as usual, to research and came across this Omron Max Power so gave it a shot: Review: The first time I hooked this up was at home and sitting in my comfy chair. I didn't feel anything on levels 1, 2, or 3 but felt a good amount of tens-uniting going on level 4. I did two, 15-minute treatements as recommended in the manual and it actually felt pretty good, if not a little numb, afterwards. I was on vacation the next week so brought it with me and used it throughout the day inbetween swimming, unloading / loading groceries and luggage from our car, etc... the tens unit really really helped. Usually I would be getting sore and have to lie down or get some ice / heat for a bit but with this thing I felt I could continue my vacation. I just read a book and did a 15-minute treatment. By the end of vacation I was up to level 8. My first week at my office I brought the tens unit. I do have a standing or sitting desk so I generally rotate between the two. I hooked the pads up in the bathroom and ran the cord through my shirt so it wasn't noticable and ran it once while sitting and then later while standing. It worked fantastic and gave me a lot of relief. Up to level 10 now and holding. The other day I left it at home by accident and panicked not having it all day. by the end of the day I was sore and realized that I've really gotten a lot of relief from this tens unit. In conclusion: I hope my story helped some of you. A Tens-Unit is not an end-all answer for your back pain and this review is probably more about tens-units in general than the Omron specifically. The Omron Max Power was my first unit but it left me satisfied and feeling like I don't need to try anymore. For me, it has become a must-have tool that I will use everyday as long as it still works for me. Most importantly, I haven't had a single pain killer or NSAID since I got this thing and started using it. I would recommend this Omron tens unit based on this experience but also understanding that it's part of a balanced life style. Eating right, taking frequent walks if you sit at work all day, and getting exercise and therapy MUST be part of your lifestyle if you live with back or joint pains; I think this tens unit would be a great compliment to those things. ****UPDATE*** - 1 star One additional thing to know. Because I wear this thing nearly every day, the cords last about 2 months. Currently, Omron does not sell the cords by themselves so I've had to call and gone through a bit of a hassel to get a new cord (they want me to send everything back for warranty work but I know 100% it's the cord, not the unit). They recently sent me a new cord as the cust svc is really good but there is a large issue with these cords for long term use. Since they won't sell the cord individually, I have to deduct a star but this is otherwise a life saver for me, one that I truly can't live without. ***UPDATE #2*** - 2 more stars All about the cords, unfortunately. My cords last about 6 weeks. 8 if I'm lucky. Omron customer service are really great and have agreed to send me one-off cords but that's not good enough. I can not depend on calling Omron every month and begging for a replacement cord. If they would send me a box of them this wouldn't be an issue. If I could buy a box of cords then this also wouldn't be a problem. But they won't and I can't so this IS a problem. I recently purchased another Tens unit: http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K6LPSJG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 and the first thing I noticed was that the cords on this other product were SIGNIFICANTLY thicker and sturdier. Also, they aren't Omron proprietary so even if they break I can buy new ones easily, anywhere. To ice the cake, Healthmate included 3 cords with the new unit. Review is coming soon but based on the cords alone I'm dropping my score of this Omron to 2 stars; sorry. ***UPDATE #3*** Of course, my cords broke again.. I've got them to last about 2 or 3 months by handling them like glass but they still break. Omron customer service has informed me that they'll no longer give me new cords. I again explained that all they have to do is include one of their proprietary cords with the sale of their proprietary pads and the problem would be solved... they said "We've had that suggestion before and we're considering it." Yeah, I made that suggestion over 2 years ago. In other words, Ormon still sucks.

This method works for my back and sciatica pain with heat and magnesium!
I've been wanting to get a electrotherapy tens unit for years, but they always seemed so complicated and expensive. Omron's new Max Pain Relief is super easy to use and affordable. I have a few tips that have really helped me using this electrotherapy with my chronic back pain and especially sciatica. There are three things I use before I go to sleep at night, using this unit is one. The other two are taking magnesium and using a heating pad. MAGNESIUM I dissolve 2 teaspoons of Natural Vitality Natural Calm product in 1 cup of cool filtered water. Magnesium helps with connective tissue and muscle health. It will also help you sleep by calming down your whole body. You can take this to bed with you and sip on it while use use the electrotherapy and heat treatment. HEAT I use Battle Creek 14"x27" moist heating pad. This heating pad gets warmer than average drugstore brand heating pads, is larger, and provides moist heat which is better for your body than dry heat. You don't have to use a moist sponge, it draws moisture from the air, then delivers it the heating area. I lay mine down on the mattress, then place a towel over the top. Then turn the unit on and let it heat up a bit while your placing the electrotherapy electrode on your body. The reason for the heat? I have found this method will increase the effectiveness of the electrotherapy and provide even more relaxation and relief to my body. You can turn in on and off during the session as needed. Make sure not to overheat the area, just keep it comfortably warm. LOCATION OF ELECTRODES On the package, they provide various locations where you can place the electrodes. In addition, the quick start guide and the instruction manual get into specifics on where to place the electrodes depending on your pain locations. For me, I use my intuition to place the electrodes. Stop for a minute and listen to your body. Where is the pain originating from? Typically it with my sciatica pain in is in my lower back and toward my bottom on the sides. Then choose a spot for the first pad and place it, then put the other one either symmetrically on the opposite side. Or, place the other one 4-6 inches away from the first one, where the pain is radiating to. Really, anything goes here! Instead of following the instructions to a T, I use my instincts to what feels good and right. This will vary from day to day. Sometimes I use this on my should blades or middle of my back along the bottom of my ribcage. MORE ON ELECTRODES The electrodes they provide will last about 3 months (150 sessions). They have a sticky coating that adheres really well to the skin, but do not leave a residue behind. There is a little holder when you're not using them that will keep them flat and dust free. There is also a little tote bag for that holds the electrodes and the unit it's self. They are $15 bucks for a replacement, so I have a couple packs on hand so I never run out. HOW LONG FOR THE THERAPY This unit can me used while your working and going about your life, but I have found much more benefit using it in a relaxed state as described above, or even laying on the couch or sitting in a chair. They say you can use it three times a day. Each round is 15 minutes and you can do up to two rounds during one therapy session. For my routine, I do only one therapy session per day (at night), but I do three rounds totaling 45 minutes. I usually move the electrodes between each 15 minute round if my pain is in more than one location or if the pain center moves after each session. I sometimes only do two 15-minute rounds and leave it on one location. It's really up to you. The key is listening to what your body needs and what feels right to you. INTENSITY LEVEL This unit has 9 different settings that will vary the sensation. Then with each setting you can choose an intensity level. Experiment with the 9 different settings. I like the Knead setting best, but I vary that, again depending on what feels right to me on any particular day. During the session, the pulse will change slightly, automatically. This wakes up the connective tissue and provides an awesome therapy treatment! There are 15 intensity levels. I usually run mine at half intensity or less. For me, I don't want to zap my body with a 15 level intensity. It's too hard on my body and I've found it will irritate the connective tissue even more. I find that a 6-8 intensity level is perfect, but that may vary for you. To find the perfect intensity, turn it up till you really feel it pulsing, then turn it down by 2-3 levels. Also, you may want to either increase or decrease the intensity during your sessions. You can do that with this unit, you're in complete control. I love this unit and wish I could give it a ten-star rating. It works great and has provided so much relief! Also, please double-check with your doctor if you have any really bad issues going on. I would highly recommend chiropractic care in conjunction with acupuncture for short-term treatment if you're really in a lot of pain. Stay away from those awful pain medications if you can. A little Advil once in a while can be helpful, but using this therapy I described should keep you drug-free! Please feel free to comment on my review if you have any questions at all.

Must have for lower back pain
I had a disk surgery and unfortunately once you have a disk issue, it stays with you. Been on pain killers for years. This device is simply amazing. I have been using it a month now and did not need pain killers at all. I use it 30 min a day and the pain either disappears or is very low. Absolutely recommend it to anyone with lower back pain or other pain. I can't believe why doctors don't reccomend these units.

Good Solution for Back Pain relief
Using it since last 15 days, the build and performance quality is excellent. It acts as a good pain reliever for moderate pain, more power levels are desirable for alleviating higher pain levels. If you compare with the physiotherapist’s machine, this will fall short but by itself it is a good home pain relieving device.
