Easily slices and is super safe
I’ve always used the old kind of mandolin. Never again this new one is awesome. slices so easy. I bought ordered another one for my daughter.

Very sturdy
Great mandolin, cuts at an angle but that is perfectly fine with us to keep our fingers safe! Love the color!

Hard to clean
Cuts very smooth and fast. The last bit of whatever you’re chopping does tend to get stuck between the blades and the safeguard to push in the thing you’re chopping. It’s sturdy, however the plate to catch food is pretty small. Can hold one medium sized potato before you need to dump it into a bigger container. It is very difficult to clean. Food tends to get stuck in crevasses between blade and the plastic body. Would recommend. Just know you’ll have some trouble getting all those tiny bits out from in between

I was skeptical, but now I'm sold!
I have been researching mandolin slicers for months before I decided to try this one. I'm amazed! Right out of the box with little effort, I washed it and put it to work. The suction is great, the legs snap into place. The only thing I had to adjust is how the chute attaches to the unit but I got it worked out after a try or two. The first thing I sliced was purple onions to pickle them. I wanted very thin, uniform slices and this unit did it with ease. The "plunger" for chopping takes little effort and I didn't have to force the onion thru the shoot. Contrary to other reviews, I do not find cleaning it difficult. I ran water on it in every direction and the little bits of onion dislodged 3 of 4 times i used and washed it. I was not able to achieve a diced onion in one pass but I did knife the small julienne cuts and that worked out fine - very fine, in fact! America's Test Kitchen recommends a few v-slicers and my concern was always safety. So many reviews of v slicers have people really hurt themselves. I move fast in the kitchen, not careless, but fast and I fear hurting myself with a traditional mandolin, even with a glove. This is a great tool. Yes, I may give up not being able to put a whole onion or potato in the chute because it is narrow, but the functionality and safety outweigh that little inconvenience to me of having to cut them ahead of the slice. I recommend this product!

Great Slicer - wish it could come apart though for cleaning
I was using a different slicer that sits more horizontally and you push the food across the stationary blade to slice. There were several close calls and a couple near disasters. I always hated how difficult it was to use safely and was waiting for an accident so I barely used it. After trying to shred some carrots and imbedding the blade in my nail (luckily I had put off cutting them and they were extra long), I decided I needed a new slicer. Found this one and loved how I could push the blade into stationary food and not have to move food into the stationary blade. There are just 2 mild downsides: you can't do long strips and cleaning is a little tougher. Because the blades move, there is a fixed sized port you can fit stuff in. So if you want full length carrot peels or slices, this can't do that. You can only do about 3" pulls because that is the size of the blade opening. Also, the blades don't come out so cleaning can be difficult. I put some cheese through it and was scrubbing for probably 10 minutes to get it out of all the little nooks and crannies. I really wish they designed the carriage to come apart, it would have made this machine perfect. Now I only use it with vegetables and other things that are easy to clean, nothing oily, sticky, or smooshy. So overall, I love it and couldn't find a better one. One day I hope to find one that disassembles for cleaning but also so you can sharpen the blade. Seems like such a waste to throw out the whole machine when these blades aren't meant to stay that sharp for that long. Things don't stay razor sharp for long without sharpening.

Well made, description is misleading
To start, this doesn't do what they advertise in the description, but it is well made so I give it 3 stars. I specifically bought this for dicing but you first have to julienne and then dice. But. It doesn't actually work very well, or at all really. There is no controlling the julienne pieces when you put them back in to dice so they go everywhere in the slicer area and really just make a mess. So just julienne and then dice by hand. It does actually save time but the description specifically says it dices and it doesn't. I'm going to keep it because it does slice really thin but you have to do it in such small batches because of the angle of the slicing area. If it were closer to perpendicular instead of 45° it would be better, you wouldn't have to cut the big pieces you put in on a bias. Also, definitely don't bother with onions, we tried for 30 minutes to just julienne them and it was pretty unsuccessful. They move around too much in the slicer area. Still pretty good for thin slicing and julienne though, so worth it in the end for me because I am a hazard when it comes to mandolins and this one is basically me proof. =)

This mandoline is not only safer to use, but cutting ingredients for salads is so much faster.
First of all, I have to say that I totally disagree with the review that stated "This product was intended for use with a developmentally delayed person to aid in cooking." I am an experienced cook that is well versed in the use of a knife and a mandoline. If you have a tool like this that can make processing food easier, faster, and safer, I see no reason not to use it no matter how good your knife skills are. I also disagree there is a lot of prep work before this mandoline can be used. For some slicing some foods, like celery, carrots, etc. I generally cut pieces to be close to equal length. If the lengths are longer than the shoot, you can use your hand to push them until they get short enough to use the pusher. I use this mandoline primarily for cutting ingredients I use in our salads. Other than the greens, avocado, and cherry tomatoes I use, this mandoline is used for radishes, cucumber, red onion, red and green bell peppers, and carrots. If you are into salads, try cutting radishes with either a knife or a convention mandoline. Yes it can be done with a knife, and not with a conventional mandoline very easily. Cutting them with a knife takes time to cut them evenly and individually and you have to be careful they don't slip so you cut your fingers. With this mandoline, I cut off the ends of the radishes, put 4-5 of them in the chute of this mandoline, and they are all evenly sliced in less than 5 seconds. I haven't found a cucumber yet that would fit into the chute of this mandoline. I cut off the end on an angle, and again, enough evenly cut slices for two salads within less than 5 seconds. For peppers, cut them in half, remove the seeds and membranes, and put them in the chute of this mandoline fitting them together in layers. Again, perfect slices in less than 5 seconds. For red onions, I peel them, cut them into quarters, and put a couple of quarters in the chute. Again, enough for two salads cut into perfect even slices. For carrots using two carrots, I cut off the ends, cut the carrots in half, put the 4 pieces in the mandoline chute, and, again, less than 5 seconds to even slice all of the carrots. Honestly, I can't imagine trying to do all of this with a conventional mandoline as most will not cut anything that is not soft. I did used a knife prior to getting this mandoline, but it took me at least 15-20 minutes more to get all of these veggies cut and cut evenly. I am not a "developmentally delayed person in cooking", but I do appreciate any cooking aid that saves me time. In addition, for my purposes, I have had no problem at all in cleaning this mandoline or with food sticking in it. I simply use my sink sprayer to clean it. As yet, I haven't had a need to use the brush that came with it for cleaning. Although this mandoline may not be good for all slicing needs, it certainly helps a lot in the preparation of salad ingredients. Will this mandoline replace all use of a conventional mandoline, a food processor, or a knife - not likely. They all have their uses, and this mandoline will not replace any of them. Really, the purpose of kitchen gadgets is to make some jobs easier and faster. This mandoline will definitely do that if you make a lot of salads with a lot of ingredients as I do. It will not replace a conventional mandoline that will slice large veggies such as potatoes. Whether this mandoline is useful for you depends on your needs. Personally, for me, it saves a lot of time in cutting veggies I use for salads. UPDATE 02/19/24: I have had this mandoline for 3 years, and it still is as sharp and cuts as well as the day I got it. I use it primarily for slicing veggies for salads which makes it so much easier to make dinner salads almost every night. I grow most of our veggies indoors, and most recently I had to slice a large harvest of carrots before steaming, packaging, and freezing them. Slicing all of the carrots would have been a tedious chore, but, by using this mandoline, I had them all sliced in less than 5 minutes. One thing I have learned is to keep foods packed in the shoot so they don't turn sideways. To do this, I sometimes adjust the orientation of food in the shoot or add more to keep everything upright. As you use this tool, you learn how to keep slices even. Although I use a knife or my larger mandoline for some jobs, this mandoline is still an invaluable tool in my kitchen. I hope this review was helpful for you. I will update my review if my opinion changes or I find more uses for it.

Good safety mandoline
This unit works very well and saves me a lot of time in the kitchen. I have arthritic hands and have been fearful of cutting myself with a traditional mandoline. This one works very well, and I feel confident that I won’t get cut. Some reviewers stated it was hard to clean; I found that rinsing it immediately after use washes away most food residue easily. I never allow food to dry in it so cleaning has not been a problem. It folds flat and locks the blade down for storage; that is a plus because I have a small kitchen. I would buy this again-if this one ever needs replacing.

Excellent product
I had a mandolin which I threw in the bin when I chopped the top of my finger off….. Vowed never to buy one again - but this one is so well designed you’d have to try hard to hurt yourself. I use it to cut thing strips of apple for Bircher Muesli, slice carrots for the kids lunch, slice up veg for a poke bowl. The kids love using it too and it’s super safe.

Me encanta!!! Es súper ligero y cabe en un cajón con todas sus piezas.

Easy and quick
I’ve never cut vegetables so quick like now. And I don’t need to be afraid of cutting my finger! Very good quality and works really well.

Love it
I really love this slicer and enjoy using it since i got it. Pros: 1. Easy to use, clean and store 2. Dishwasher safe, although i only wash it by hand. 3. Sharp blades, nothing i cut so far has jammed or got stuck while slicing, potatoes just glide with ease. 4. Ability to cut thick slices, this is probably the best feature this slicer has in mu opinion, i have used many mandolines ( currently own an original Benriner Japanese mandoline ) and this is the only slicer able to slice thick slices up to 8 mm. Cons: 1. The chute is narrow, many veggies and fruits won’t fit in and you have to prep them 1st with a knife, which is not a big deal but sometimes you want round slices and you won’t be able to get them if you can’t fit the vegetable or fruit as a hole. ( i think i read somewhere that they don’t make it wider for safety reasons). 2.Sometime you get non uniform shapes because of the way the food comes in contact with the blades. 3. You can only make short fries, due to the position potatoes fit on the blade. Overall, i really love it and would highly recommend it.
